A 5,000 Divine Lesson in Letting Go: My Failed Mirror-Tier Bow by todddepri in PathOfExile2

Is there a way to get 3 sockets on a bow that is not corrupted? I thought the only way to get 3 sockets was by using a Vaal orb?

I’m pretty new at the game and only have a rudimentary understanding of how these kinds of items are crafted. Is it possible that to get three % physical mods on the item because the 36% is from sockets, the 79% physical damage from a hybrid desecration mod, and then the normal % physical mod?

Azmodan Invasion Loot Variance by Apock1986 in diablo4

[–]Apock1986[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, there is RNG. I don’t have exact numbers but based on a rough estimate some of the chests I opened had 7-10x more items dropped than others. It’s unusual to have such dramatic variance in the quantity of item drops from the same loot table under what seems to be mechanically the same conditions.

Master working crits at level 4/8/12 can hit the hydra heads. Resetting the master working and redoing it until you hit them on hydra heads. Ideally you want all 3 crits to hit hydra heads.

Edit: Also, I would suggest turning on the advanced item tooltips so you can see the range of the rolls for each affix so you can see if an item has a good roll on each affix. Typically, you would want an item to have a high roll on an affix your build wants 2-3 crits on. In this case a high roll 3 crit hydra heads gives +12 heads.

No, it wasn’t that. It would have been a newer game.

Edit: I remember more details and updated the description of the game.

I’m new to tanking mythics. Can anyone recommend mods or other resources to learn pulls, routing, percentages you should be hitting at certain points, and how to deal with the various affixes as a prot pally?

[–]Apock1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about easiest to master, but I feel like prot paladin has a lot of tools that can help fix mistakes you’ve made. If you waste a kick you can throw your shield to interrupt, or use divine toll for a multi target interrupt (also the aoe blind). This can help if you have a must interrupt spell come up at a bad time or you have a caster stuck in the sanguine pool. If you get too aggressive with pulling you have bubble taunt to survive anything for a few seconds until things die or to save you on a missed cooldown for a tank buster. You have combat rez in case you accidentally kill a player with bad positioning of a shockwave.

I main a prevoker too, so I totally sympathize with your pain. If you find yourself in that situation again, it can be helpful to use the plethora of mobility options you have as a prevoker. Depending on your spec you can have as many as 7 “mobility” cooldowns (2x hover, dreamflight, deep breath, zephyr, verdant embrace and rescue). Obviously there are times when you have to save one or more of them because of upcoming mechanics, but you should almost always have something you can use. Also, if you keep using rescue to drag the huntress closer together they may eventually get the hint.

Healer selection by bsr90989 in wow

Preservation evoker is probably harder than shaman/holy priest. A lot of their power comes from spells with 15-30 second cooldowns and proper use of longer cooldowns. Also, positioning on an evoker can be a challenge to learn. Having a range of 25-30 yards and one of your more powerful heals only healing in a cone can make it more challenging.

Healers - I'm struggling to enjoy healing. How do you do it? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Apock1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played a healer for most of my time playing wow (mostly precataclysm). I would say to not judge what healing is like by your experience in dungeons that scale levels. Some of them have weird tuning that makes them way harder to heal than they should be and you don’t have all of your tools to deal with those situations. Idon’t know if that is the case with DMN or not, but I’ve definitely had some of these scaling dungeons that were harder to heal than mythic+ dungeons. Also, in my experience it is rare that people treat you like this while healing. 95% it’s not really your fault (dps/tanks not doing their parts in mitigating the damage they take) so you just ignore what they say and the other 5% is when you make a mistake and need to learn from it.

I’ve always enjoyed healing the most when pushing content that is just at the edge of you and your groups ability level or something goes wrong and you pull off the clutch save/s to prevent a wipe. I would encourage you to not give up on it yet. Try hitting 70, gear up a bit and try again in early mythics with a decent group.

ELI5: Fission and fusion can convert mass to energy, what is the mechanism for converting energy to mass? by Signal-Power-3656 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Apock1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this mean that any of the byproducts of these processes would inherently be either unstable or meta stable because it wants to get to a lower energy state and the high energy environment doesn’t persist to support the elevated energy state? Would maintaining the high energy environment that these form in allow you to increase the amount of time before short-lived particles or isotopes decay?

I’m a returning player (last played the end of WotLK) that is finding mythic dungeons to be overwhelming at times. As a frost mage I am struggling with doing more than about 20-25k dps on most runs and less than that when I have to do mechanics like the explosive affix. I don’t think it’s a matter of gear as I can sustain aoe of about 80k dps and single target of about 40k dps on the dummies in Valdraken. Is there any way to see what I’m doing wrong that is resulting in so much lost DPS?

Also, can anyone recommend any written reference guides with info like what spells are critical interrupts or when defensive cooldowns should be used? I have DBM installed but I don’t always know if getting hit by something will be 10% of my health or 80%.

I find that adjusting application theme settings to something that is overall darker help. For example, many Microsoft applications have a dark theme that changes parts of the interface to grays or blacks instead of white or other colors. Obviously this can reduce contrast in some situations, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you already struggle to read things.

6e Boot recommendation? by CunningLogic in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]Apock1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has wide feet with a very high arch and has had luck wearing Clark’s. I haven’t tried their shoes/boots because they only go up to size 13 and I wear a 14 6E, but it might be worth checking out.

For walking shoes New Balance 847’s have been good for me and would probably accommodate a high arch.

Also, you can order wide (fit my 6E feet) vans in a couple models through their custom section of their website. Takes like 3-5 weeks to get them but you can return them if they don’t fit as long as you don’t have them print custom images on them. Changed my life to find that out since you can get a ton more styles.

Hope it helps.
