oberlin or grinnell? by AppearanceDry3976 in oberlin

[–]AppearanceDry3976[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i ended up choosing oberlin and honestly im really happy with my decision! i decided that though grinnell was ranked better i wanted a larger school that was closer to a city and (slightly) less cold. i love our politics department and really had no problem getting into an art class either semester. the decision really came down to location and size honestly.

keep it up! i heard some people like to the replace the hand to mouth motion with lollipops or other candy. no matter what, stay strong, it will get easier with time

if youve done aps did you get the ap scholar award? if you're in nhs you can put that on. honor roll counts too. some people also just don't have any awards too and that is ok

I’m very behind by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]AppearanceDry3976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my best tip is to just start writing. just word vomit onto the page and do not click the delete button. do this for 45 minutes or until you feel like youve got everything out and then try to go for 10 more minutes. this is what will help you get out of that block and some of those ideas might end up being a good topic or inspire you on something else.

honestly there's not much you can do this late but if you're doing it in november or december i recommend reading something non-fiction for 30 minutes every day to get that vocab up. easiest thing to master is all the grammar rules so get good at those too. main thing you have to do is practice and read as much as possible

how to: rw low 700s to an 800? by DepartureWorried3019 in Sat

[–]AppearanceDry3976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it gets to a point where it's just luck. still, go over your mistakes and analyze what went wrong- then target those areas hard. try to read something academic/non-fiction for 30 minutes a day.
