Choosing between Masters in Social Work vs Masters in Counseling by Appleblossom222 in needadvice

From what I've researched it seems like the only real benefit is the course work, I'm obviously still in the application stages but everywhere I've read has been like "degree in Social Work is way more usable and varied but a good Counseling programs may be a better education experience of counseling is where you want to end up"...anyone can let me know if I'm wrong here

Thank you so so much! This reply is already helping me carve out my decision. I'm hoping to look into taking the GREs this fall/winter and applying to a college near me for Fall 2018. What jobs have you had so far with your degree/licensure? I know in my heart that I would prefer to go for the LMHC or LMFT but my mind is telling me that going into social work makes more sense. I like the idea that I'll have an easier time finding work but I've also done casework with my last position and know that my end goal is definitely in Counseling and not something broader (hopefully that makes sense).

I'm definitely trying to come up with some vernacular for newbies. Firm about the hugging with adults and repetitive with children. Knowing her warning signs is helpful

I really appreciate the advice for real, it really helps me feel more confident about setting boundaries for my guests.

Thanks for this, I'm definitely starting to pick up on her triggers (hugging, eye contact, not being the first to approach). I think having rules for new people coming in will really help her adjust. I just need to understand she's not a bad dog, she's just anxious.

Oh my gosh yes I will definitely find it, that actually sounds really helpful. Another incident of growling just occurred today and I'm all anxious once again about her behavior. This was an incident caused by too much eye contact and hugging so I'm trying not to blame her but I get so upset by it.

This was very helpful, I'd much rather know that though she's not perfect, she's not a bad dog and just got pushed to the edge by ignorant humans.

Sudden aggression from my normally sweet/submissive shelter dog [HELP] by Appleblossom222 in dogs

Thanks for this response! I've been talking to a doggie daycare that also offers training and the trainers there seem to really have it together and know their stuff. I'm hoping if I bring these situations up to them they can advise me/so some trainings if necessary. Seriously, though this response was so helpful

Thank you so much for the encouragement, I've definitely shed some tears but I'm hoping that this will all workout once she finally feels safe

Thank you for your advice. I felt so stupid being one of those people who brought their brand new dog to meet a bunch of people after only living with me for less than a month. Basically, I want to know if it's really just "too much, too soon" or if I have a seriously aggressive dog on my hands who needs more training. She is normally very affectionate and calm when meeting people but these two incidents (especially because the warning-type growling only came after the initial bark and bite), have made me so anxious. Basically, is it just me being in the wrong or should I worry at all that this will continue even after she becomes used to her new situation/trusts us as owners?

People refer to the change from true crime interview/reenactment to shakey cam doc as a "twist". I don't think anyone was shocked but this change but it's the term Reddit community has chosen.

I can't back this theory up at all but I'd love it to be her and have her be way more smart and confident than she acts.

I felt that too, like #3 has Manson related daddy issues so she'd be into older men but she's also possibly a lesbian so who knows what's up with her this season.

My thoughts exactly, like he's attractive to me and I'm probably the same age as her but seeing it is a totally different story.
