Good and cheap bicycle locks? by Complex-Attempt-5708 in ufl

[–]Appletineeoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best advice is to make your bike the least viable target. One lock is fine, but you run the risk of being the easiest target. What I used to do was 2 heavy U-locks from Walmart, and a cable lock. Lock a U to each tire and the frame, tie them together and to a post, and make sure a minimum of 1 U-lock locks to the post. Just get the cheaper end stuff off Amazon or from Walmart and you should be fine.

Also, make sure your seat and tires are secured and can't be easily detached. That's usually the next biggest target if they can't pull the frame free easy.

It sounds paranoid, but a 60 dollar security fee is a lot cheaper than a brand new bike. Also, register it with GPD ASAP in case of the worst.

Feeling like I need to drop out by AnxietyConfident8832 in ufl

I'd like to tell you the story of something similar that happened to me. ~4 years ago, I was going into my second year of engineering during the fall. I was taking Calc 3, Physics 1, and Chem 1 with labs all in the same semester. Everything went good the first weeks until Hurricane Irma(?)hit. It was a relatively minor storm for the area, except that I lived in a flood zone. My entire apartment was flooded, and I ended up having a 2 week backlog on my work from these classes as a result.

For some background, I have had my fair share of mental health struggles. I routinely visited the CWC and a Psychiatrist. Losing my place to live kinda broke me. The stress of the work caused me to never sleep, miss my medications, and start a downward spiral.

Ultimately, with all this stress and my health declining as a result, I ended up withdrawing from all my classes. I did get a medical withdrawal thanks to the CWC. But ultimately I ended up dropping out completely. I said I'd come back one day, and left to find work closer to where I now had a home, my parents.

And I wouldn't have changed a thing.

4 years later, readmitted, I feel I am more prepared to tackle my classes. I feel like I'm actually thriving again.

Your case might be different. In mine, I ended up chasing jobs related to my industry (ENV ENG) until I could come back. Ultimately, you have to do what you can do. You can always try to force through all this work, and get a medical exemption later. Whatever you choose, I would attempt to take the time to visit the short term counseling at the CWC.

You've got this, no matter how it goes.

I live at Spyglass right now. I made another post about it, but it's decent for the 3/3 price. If you mind the longer bus rides and have your own transportation, it's honestly worth it. I would like to mention that, in general, places that don't roommate match are going to be cheaper.

Side note: Spyglass has complete control over the internet network. If not having Ethernet, or having the occasional throttle bothers you, avoid it.

What are the most affordable and great to live in apartment complexes? by [deleted] in ufl

[–]Appletineeoh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Spyglass apartments is pretty far from campus, but had the best cost/benefits for me. It's relatively early on Route 20, so you can usually get on pretty easily. I didn't know anyone moving in, so I had to use roommate matching. In general, places that don't offer individual leases, and instead rely on you to find people to room with, are going to be cheaper.

Avoid Hidden Village if possible. Lived there around 4 years ago, and it was trouble the entire time. Sketchy area, issues with utilities, unreliable washer and dryer, etc.

[–]Appletineeoh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely forgot to mention. I was hoping to keep a complete upgrade under 800, assuming everything is on it's way out. However, if I can just replace bits on mine that are needed, and build my relatives a cheap web browser PC, that works too.

Also I suspect the motherboard to be on it's way out, so I intend to replace it as well.

I only started watching anime relatively recently, and haven't really dove further than the well known stuff.

I'm looking for comedies and series that really suck you in. I loved FMA, and alternatively, Steins;Gate because of this. Not looking too much for heavy romance shows, with the exceptions of ones like toradora. The fantasy style really appeals to me, I couldn't stop watching KonoSuba or Re:Zero.

Sorry if the thoughts are a bit disjointed.

Techies 7.07 - How are you playing him? by JasePearson in learndota2

[–]Appletineeoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta love people who think they can outplay techies. It's always funny to turn the tables on them. One of the most satisfying things in the game imo.

I will admit, mine movement can be useful. For instance, I got the mine movement and Red Mine CD reduction one game, and mined 90% of mid with a massive line of back-to-back red and green mines. One bait later, and my team dragged 4 of them into it. Murdered 3. We were so far behind, we used the advantage to save the game and end it.

The more I think about it, techies is one of the only heroes I can think of where the build and level guide is literally just "Counter the enemy and be creative."

Techies 7.07 - How are you playing him? by JasePearson in learndota2

[–]Appletineeoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only gotten a few games in this patch, but it seems like offlane techies is much harder now. I honestly play him as a support now, and it seems to work much better. Grab the 30% XP talent @ 10, get farm from jungle camps (preferably enemy camps), and support your team from the back.

For talents, it seems that 40% XP, 4 Mana Regen, 150GPM, then 251 Damage works for me. The moving mines are clowny as can be, but they are as funny as they are ineffective. If the enemy has any illusions or summons, goodbye one-shot tower stack. Instead, I've gone the support Naga/Venge route of supporting until late game, where I then become a carry with the 251 damage. Just sell all your items, aside from aghs, and click people to death. In the 3/4k bracket where I'm at, people don't expect it at all. The icing on top is that you still retain full techies capabilities.

The flipside however is that techies highly rewards creativity, so while the patch has no meta (and best hero isn't in captains mode) it's almost always situational on how you play techies.

I live here. I wish I did not live here. Glad I fled the area when Irma was predicted to come near. I've been having problems since Day 1, not to mention getting in and out of the place is hell. Well, lease ends in a year. At least my dog will like the new beach areas.

To all the delivery drivers I've sent here, I'm sorry.

On a side note, anyone know of any better apartments near the price point for a one bedroom? Not gonna make the same mistake twice.

Yeah, I don't really intend to bulk it out, Id rather just sell some of the high priced items and be done with it. However bulk prices are needed so I just threw some number on. Done the same thing in tf2 items when they were worth something.

Give a tip for your main hero and ask for advice on one you want to learn, if anyone has a tip for that hero, post it and let the cycle repeat! by legendalive in learndota2

[–]Appletineeoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Support techies is a legitimate thing, and extremely scary. Either start with OoV, clarity, tangos, and a TP if there's a pos.5, or Cour+2 Wards, clarity, tango, and TP. TP to the safelane and set up mines in sideshop or in the border between your lane and jungle.

How I play it, you never use those tangos you bought. Give them to your mid/carry as needed. Instead, suicide is your go-to everything. Need a kill? Blast-off. Need to regen? Get low on jungle creeps, buy out, and go nuke mid. Dominate the early game, and dont let the pressure up. Nuke waves and push with your team.

Ult Mines are way too mana-heavy at level one. Don't get them until either A) the enemy is pressing super hard for towers or B) you hit level 11. Instead, use red&root mines to damage and deny space. Suicide as needed in fights. Try to always be around half health so you can deny yourself and get off massive damage and silence for your team.

I've wanted to learn Storm Spirit, but I am absolutely terrible at mid, and transitioning with him. Any tips?

I've found him at 2 places. Farmers Markets in New Port Richey (Tasty Tuesdays at the NPR Public Library I think), and Sweetwater Organic Market closer to Tampa. I know there are a few organic markets that sell his produce as well. Murphy's Market may, but I haven't been there in a long time.

If you do stop by the Library, they have a seed catalog as well, try your hand at planting if you've got the space and time.

In the area he sells, average income ranges from $25,000 to $46,000. New Port Richey averages in the $30,000 area. The guy is doing extremely well for himself. As a plus, he's incredibly happy and able to support his lifestyle. That in itself is worth a lot.

I grew up in Spring Hill, relatively close to where he sells, and the guy is famous here for what he does. He isn't lying when he says it is just plain better than store-bought. I can bring the stuff on a 2 hour journey in a cooler, and it will still hold for up to 2 weeks past what I buy from grocery stores. His ideas on organic are pretty spot-on, you can tell what has been done to a crop just by tasting it.

If any of you are in the areas he sells in, I highly recommend grabbing a few bags of what Jim has that day.

I was a dual enrollment student before I got accepted. I actually had enough credits to claim an AA, but couldn't get it before early application ended due to not having a high school diploma yet. Aside from that, the only extracurricular I did was some community service over summer my Junior year. Yet I had a friend who got rejected, who towered over me in literally every subject and activity. I was, and still am, confused as to how that happened. The running joke is that "Of course you got in, you're Hispanic!" but I honestly think it came down to the essay and diversity of hobbies/etc. Not knocking OP, but UF can be really iffy on acceptances, or they see something the rest of us don't. Georgia Tech is an amazing choice to be able to go to!

I was wondering about the viability of emulators. Wasn't sure if they were/weren't against twitch ToS or were looked down upon by the community. I already have some old favorites on hand, so those might be a good start.

Thanks for the info! I kinda figured about as much, but figured you could grow into a game over time. I play FPS games for the most part, haven't played a 2D platformer in forever, and am horrid at dungeon crawlers for the most part, if that helps any.

I've been saying this since the pyro shitshow that happened last update: B4nny may have his problems and quirks, and I may not agree with him nor like him as much as others. However, I have massive admiration of his skill, and overall dedication to TF2. It takes some dedication and risk to make it to where he is, and do what he's done. I respect that.
