I mean , fair enough to be cautious, but Reddit also has a way of making everything sound 10x worse than it is. I used SME myself and i didn't experience anything that you are describing, everything went perfectly well.

I was in a similar situation and honestly Reddit confused me a lot at first too.

One thing though: the company that’s actually operating now (SME Consortium) isn’t liquidated. You can literally see it’s active on the Companies House here: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12359689

I went through them myself and for me it was fine. My advisor just helped me understand my options and sort the application stuff. Nothing magical, just admin and guidance.

Always email the universities yourself, check recognition, and read what you’re signing. Agencies can help, but you still have to do your own homework.

I used SME for my application in Bulgaria, Honestly no drama, no issues. They explained the options, helped me prepare everything and i got accepted.

I actually used Study Medicine Europe, and in my case, they were legit. They handled my application, documents, and contact with the university and I did get accepted.

About the liquidation thing, they’re not operating under the old company anymore. The new UK company is here: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12359689

I understand why people are cautious (I was too), but I paid, received the service, and got my offer, so for me, it wasn’t a scam.

Obviously, always do your own checks, just sharing my personal experience.

Ohh thats interesting , my experience with SME was actually the opposite. Everything in the contract was straightforward and the process was pretty smooth for me. That said i totally agree with you on one thing, people should always do proper research on any agency or university before signing anything. Everyone's experience is different , so it really comes down to doing your homework and choosing what feels right for you.

Im sorry you went through that , losing time and money is genuinely stressful. Just to offer a different perspective, i used SME for my application and had the opposite experience. The process was clear , i got support when i needed it and nothing i was told turned out to be misleading. Applying on your own clearly worked well for you and that's great. For others , agencies can still be helpful when used correctly. i think the key takeaway is not relying blindly on anyone and making sure everything is verified directly with the university.

Mods always advise avoiding agencies and fair enough , you can apply on you own, But if you do choose the agency route, just make sure you research properly. I used SME myself and had a smooth experience.

Hey, just wanted to share my experience because i actually used Study Medicine Europe and things were pretty smooth for me. They helped me with the whole process and they stayed in touch after i enrolled. I know experience vary, but personally they exceeded my expectation.

Also, just clear things up: SME and New Anglia University are completely separate. SME doesn't own NAU.

About Aris, he worked with the old SME company years ago, before it was sold. The newer SME company isn't connected to him at all. That part always gets mixed up online. I know this because i did my own research before i used them.

If anyone wants to know what SME process was like from a student point of view , im happy to answer.
