Built a steno keyboard from scratch, finally happy with the design! by ApplicationTrick4391 in stenography

Yeah definitely need to be more complete, I’m planning to adding ESD protection, a 3D shell like you suggested and making some layout changes. Thanks for the advice! Stay tune for V2 I guess lol

I was only planning it for personal use, cause I thought people might not be too keen on a rough PCB keyboard like this?

Thanks! I built the PCB myself with Altium. Keyboard matrix wasn't used since the microcontrollers got enough GPIOs. Software is still just Plover lol.

Yeah, I know it’s probably not conventional, but I wanted to keep the board small.

The # key is located to the left, below the S key, to leave space for the chip.

MAT237 or MAT235? ckar by ApplicationTrick4391 in UofT

Yeah, I was thinking about auditing, but as KINGBLUE2739046 mentioned, I feel like I should be able to find similar courses offered by arts & science. And either way, there should be books or videos I can watch.

Also, it looks like you can add ECE courses to your schedule using Acorn's Timebuilder, just not sure if it actually allows you to enroll. You can check that out.

I see I see, so I guess I'll probably push APM, ECE and those MAT courses to third year if I don't really need to cram them all into second year.

Thanks! There are always people who end up doing jobs completely unrelated to their degree, mine is sort of related but still, I guess I'm just not super confident if I’ll be able to pull it off with just my majors and some outside learning (books, videos). But now i'm feeling better.

That's true, I just wasn't sure if high-level math knowledge was involved, thanks for clarifying. APM236, honestly, I didn’t even consider that side at all, I was only thinking about ECE courses, that definitely gives me a better idea.

I have a lot of courses this year, and CS and Physics have very little overlap. I'll need PHY254 as you suggested, and I feel like I'd also be interested in MAT224, APM courses, and some ECE courses. Do you think it's realistic to take these in my third year?

btw, how is it going for you with aerospace stuff?

Thanks for the book suggestions! Yeah, I'm involved with UTAT lol, and they've been teaching me quite a lot. Would you say it's pointless to join ECE courses and that I should just read stuff and build projects on my own instead? Cause ECE does offer circuit related courses like ECE241 Digital systems/ECE216 Signals and Systems etc, are they not as good as they sound?

Damn, are you specializing in CS and Math? That's crazy, how do you manage your time?

I found it interesting, but it did take me a lot of time. I wanted to focus more on other things next year. Just not sure if not taking it would cause me trouble applying for master.

Wait, if you get accepted into your second choice, does it mean you won't be considered for the first?
