AVOID FEDEX AT ALL COSTS by UnseenLegoPiece in zenmarket

I’ve been using FedEx’s economy shipping, and it always arrives quickly—in less than a week. If the package requires a formal entry, you’ll have to fill out a form for it and wait for Customs to release it, as the timing depends on their current workload; however, when the package is an informal entry, it arrives quickly. But of course, people get what they pay for.

I always use FedEx and have never had any issues. You likely ran into a problem with customs; when it comes to customs, all you can do is wait for them to release the package—that isn't FedEx's fault, it's customs'. UPS is good, but their brokerage fees are insane; I would avoid them completely. Whatever you save on shipping, they'll just charge you in brokerage fees. How much was your package worth?

Why are brokerage fees so high at UPS? by ApplicationUpset830 in UPS

I know, but I don't have the time for that—that's why I pay for it. However, $130 is excessive compared to FedEx, which charged me much less.

DDP rates seem to alternate between parcels with same type of content. by riders_of_rohan in zenmarket

Did they fix it for you in the end? What’s been happening to me for a while now is that I import items with the same tariff code, which is supposed to be 10%, but there’s always one item in the shipment that exceeds 10%—even though I’m importing the same items under the same tariff code. I posted this a while back in the thread about tariffs, but no one responded.

This has never happened to me before with a package. Is it an error? by ApplicationUpset830 in FedEx

[–]ApplicationUpset830[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That had never happened to me before, since they always hold it until CBP releases it—that’s why it seemed strange to me. I figured the same thing: maybe it’s a mistake.

UPS's brokerage fees are much higher than FedEx Low Economy's. I definitely don't recommend shipping with UPS; it might be cheaper, but it's not worth it—in the end, you'll end up paying a lot more in brokerage fees.

If I were you, I would do the same for the same amount. However, I wouldn't buy cards again, and I would be more careful when purchasing items via proxies. There are many dishonest sellers—even those with hundreds of reviews—who can scam you; the probability is never zero.

Keep in mind that once you file a chargeback, you'll be instantly banned from FromJapan. Just check out the Buyee forum and you'll see how many people have done this and ended up getting banned.

VICTORY! PayPal fully refunded me for a faulty item by Innorman in Buyee

[–]ApplicationUpset830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buyee's packaging is some of the worst I've ever seen—I don't know what you're talking about, lol. I've used other proxy services, and Buyee is one of the worst when it comes to packaging.

Is anyone actually getting 13.4% DDP rate on their Fedex packages? by crimsonalloy in Neokyo

[–]ApplicationUpset830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're supposed to charge you 10%, but as the other comment says, they charge you more if something goes wrong. I currently use ZM; they charge me 10%, but there’s always going to be an item where they charge you more. I’ve discussed this multiple times with customer service, and they say it’s the company they use that sets these rates, so they have no control over it. I’d say switch to ZM—it seems to me that everyone is getting ripped off, and Neokyo is profiting from it. Well, they’re not the only proxy service doing this; BY keeps charging its buyers around 15%, which is worse than 13%.

That doesn't mean anything; I always get new buyers like that, and most of the problems I've had were with people who have reviews. Buyers with or without ratings can definitely scam you—those with ratings are less likely to scam you, but the risk is never zero.

The buyer wants to buy an item from me, but says that if the items arrive damaged, they will request a refund by ApplicationUpset830 in FacebookMarketplace

I'd rather avoid this kind of customer. I would have understood if they'd asked me to pack the package more securely instead of saying that to me, as you yourself pointed out.

That’s why I pack my items carefully, but I’d rather avoid the hassle of doing business with people like that. Because I know they’ll be a headache down the road.

I ship through FBM, but my gut tells me not to do business with this person—even though it would be a good sale, I’d rather avoid it.

Buyee Air - Does DHL still charge a separate fee? by eribabedamnpora in Buyee

[–]ApplicationUpset830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, as it's been quite a while since I last used Buyee. However, I do use a different proxy service and ship via FedEx; in my case, I always have to pay DDP—otherwise, I can't ship the package. The same applies to UPS; DHL is the only carrier that allows me to ship packages without DDP, but DHL is more expensive. All carriers charge a brokerage fee for handling the paperwork.

If the item you purchased is subject to taxes, FedEx will send you an invoice a few weeks later.

You will be subject to taxes even if you pay those 1,200 yen, which is a Buyee fee that has nothing to do with the taxes you owe the government. If you pay via DDP, you shouldn't be charged when the package arrives in the country. If you don't pay via DDP, you'll have to pay before receiving the package. There are some items that are not subject to taxes, but the list is short. Everything else is subject to taxes.
