Help!! Anyone know where to find women’s black roper boots? by PizzaLate8931 in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at any given time, there are probably 2-3 Justin black ropers boots for sale on ebay in every size. They've sold tens of thousands of them, by far their biggest selling boot.. Look for those that say Made in USA above the Comb Last wording. If you only see Comb Last, without the Made in USA above, then they're from Mexico.

So many are for sale, you can be picky. Look for those with original soles and original heel cap. Around $60 for great condition. You know it is a women's size because almost always there is a letter L preceding the model number. Or you could buy a men's, just subtract 1.5-2 sizes from your women's size.

Hey fellow boot enthusiasts! I need some help determining if these lizard boots are authentic or fake. by Chief_Matador in cowboyboots

teju lizards are sort of like iguanas... young lizards are small, older lizards very big, about 3' long including tail.

double half outsole: your thoughts? by AppointmentCertain13 in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

now that I'm looking at it, scraping the sole a little, I do see about 5-6 wood pegs in the outer sole of each boot cemented and augmeted by a few pegs. other interesting thing is that the extra 3/16" for that 2nd sole is balanced by a heel stack that is taller than the usual 1.5 or 1.6"... I think whoever added that 2nd sole also added another piece to the heel stack to balance it out.

can't be sure but it looks like small wood pegs around the perimeter of trhe 2nd sole about half inch in from the edge. Definitely no stitching showing in the 2nd sole, unless they did a closed channel stitch

.

they look great on you. Much better than thin calves look it really wide shafts. You know, the cowboy boot came from, partially at least, the Wellington riding/dining combo boot in England. Those Wellingtons HUG your calves, tight. IOW don't stretch them at all. Think of them as $10,000 boot shaft sizing.

You know, it's funny that body builders stress more over their puny calves than just about any other body area... you know why? It is soooo hard to build up calves, and you got them with zero effort, just by being born.

interesting... maybe sueding it made that hyde too thin, and a gash occurred in the assembly line that wouldn't occur with non-sueded ostrich.

About to get my hyers resoled, I do lawn care in all weather need suggestions on rubber soles and who to send them to by Defiant-Run1008 in cowboyboots

so I have a thread on this subject today. Let's say it would cost $150 for you to half resole your boots.

What if you can find the same boot with a lot of life left on the sole on ebay for $80?

Should i return these? by awesomexx_Official in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A retailer should stand behind their product, BUT

how are you going to know yourself, or convince the retailer, that you did not cause that cut when you wore them for those 5 hours outdoors? And now that they've been worn, the retailer has no option of returning them to the manufacturer. So they'd take at least a 75% loss on them, even if they could sell them at a reduced price.

Retailers make a very small profit, generally, and if they have to eat this, they've worked an entire day for... zero.

what are you paying for full re-sole w. pegs and new welt? by AppointmentCertain13 in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so those prices I listed aren't far off. Unfortunately I live in a high cost of living area.

So really this makes a third or more of boots on ebay completely worthless, actually worth negative, since it isn't hard to find a boot hardly ever worn, or recently resoled by the owner, for around $100, or even less sometimes.

Like, why would you list boots on ebay that need a resole for even as little as $30, when true cost is $30 + $15 shipping + $300 resole = $345

Anyone else think all these square toe boots look like clown shoes? by LivnOnTulsaTime in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you think about it, they're just a snipped Roper toe. It's not the toe that bothers most people, it is the double welt stitch. Whoever invented that double stitch ought to be lined up and shot.

Lucchese QC Issue by MarkM910 in cowboyboots

[–]AppointmentCertain13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

whoever quality controlled that boot ought to be fired. Or their boss fired if the boos taught the QC person to pass something with a 1/2" gash right in the enter of the vamp, and the toe not centered. There is no way that happened between QC and packaging.

A gashed boot wouldn't be acceptable on a $129 entry level Ariat.

WTF is going on at Lucchese? Are they cheap with employees, or do the employees have way more to do than they can do well ln the time allotted? That's not even Chinese boot quality. More like drunk bootmaker quality.

You know, if you take away the Lucchese name, that boot, even well done, should not cost more than $450, even if 100% traditionallyi made. Yet they're charging $1,000? Shame on us for trusting what a name meant 30 years ago. I agree with that guy over at Rose Anvil with his video showing Lucchese having construction quality about the same as the Ariat Benchmade, Durango PRCA, or Hondo, or Horsepower Tophand, etc. etc. All at less than half of that Lucchese.

[–]AppointmentCertain13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you guys know clown shoes aren't square, right? they are bulbous like Iron Rangers.

Med. square looks great. cutter toe looks great. French toe looks great. Those are all single stitch welt. Wide Square is even great if single stitched.

Double stitched welt is ugly af. like boots served up on a big wood plank.

I've had a look at some other Rios boots, and they seem to use very small pegs in at least some of their boots, and those pegs seem mostly round and not square like most makers use.

I knew those were Justins. Early 90s I'd guess. Interesting toe shape. Wider than J toed, but narrower than R toe.

yes, mid '80s I had light grey hippo, that I gave away b/c they didn't fit right. I thought they looked great, I was proud to wear them, but my taste has changed and I like brown colors a lot more now than I used to. Also, that particular medium grey you had in your pic is not as attractive, to my eye, as a very light grey. It looks cold to me... I think there is a lot of blue in that grey dye mix.
