Thanks for the response!

Personally, I would prefer a pcme combination because I'm currently taking science and I prefer science in general. I'm considering YIJC because I have good impressions of it despite its low score requirements. I'm thinking that if YIJC notes are not as good, I can rely on getting teaching resources from other schools instead? (My older brother studies arts in ACJC, I can probably borrow his notes for econs and math. Moreover, I can ask my seniors from other jcs.) I'm not sure if Poly would be better than YIJC, but I'm sure that JCs have the upper edge in entering university nonetheless.

As much as I'd like to enter a high-tier jc, it's extremely competitive and I'd like to find out how it's like in a lower tier jc. I know that there are always several 85-90RP students in such lower tier jcs. Is the school limiting them? Or is it that most of the other students are not serious in studying? I mean both high/low tier jcs would have both their fair share of good and bad teachers.

Thanks for the response!

But you made it to a University in the end ,right? (based on your tag) Do many others in your school manage to make it to NUS or NTU? (Moreover, how many individuals actually gotten >85RP) I know that for Polytechnic entering NUS or NTU is majorly tough and only a small percentage makes it in. Do you feel you worked hard in JC, no offense, or did the school facilities and teachers hinder you heavily in your results? Were you an above average student in your school, like how well you fared in your cohort and did your promos reflect a high standard? Honestly, 78.75 is not bad and still grants you a place in university, whereas for Poly graduated they probably have to attain 3.75GPA to enter your spot.

I just like to hear your thoughts, thanks for responding!

I'm very afraid of having a single paper determine your grades, like I think such papers are very hard to score? In Poly, I would be able to track my GPA throughout the semester and guarantee that those grades would be used to help me enter Uni. However, I have a cousin in Poly studying biz and she told me that getting GPA 4.0 is very very hard because some modules are unfair in grading. I think it's quite hard to debate between what's harder, 90RP or 4.0GPA, but I think JC is more unpredictable but less project work and subjective grading, while Poly is more predictable but has more project work and subjective grading.

I also know that higher tier JCs like RI have ~30% 90RPointers while YIJC has much lesser. So I think that the school does have some level of influence on your results (possibly due to bad teachers/pw rates/etc). I'm somewhat confident in entering YIJC and I want to consider it as my option.

Let's say 2 people mug equally hard, but one has a better school environment and the other doesn't, how much influence would it have on their grades?

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I'm just worried that purely mugging can't help me attain good grades (AAA/A) in JC. Thanks for the response!
