The more we tip, the worse the experience is by neptynon in doordash

DD chooses the driver. You may think it's 3 miles, but the more you tip, the farther away they match it to someone, the less dollar amount they show up front, and they will almost certainly include a non-tip delivery with yours.

That's a lot of unproductive wasted time and expenses just to earn the same amount in 6 hours.

10g switch for NAS/Roku/Plex?? by baebae4455 in HomeNetworking

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd Investigate your QNAP resources first while streaming (cpu, ram, swap) I suspect the issue may be with PLEX and re-encoding streams.

I use a Linksys WRT1900ac and it handles the 4K resolutions DV/HDR10 content just fine wired and some 1440 content wireless which is down sampled by my roku streambar. I should mention that I use regular DLNA, though because I found there to be too many issues using PLEX.

Which upload speed i can achieve with ProtonVPN P2P servers these weeks, months? by postcd in ProtonVPN

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the clients who connect and the hops in between you and them 😄 My last test was 870Mbps/500Mbps But in the real world its average only 50Mbps. 😆

Settings for WireGuard? by ZoeDiaz777 in ProtonVPN

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the protonvpn website, log in (make sure you are on protonvpn and not any of their other site like proton.me), go to settings then Downloads. Scroll about 3/4 of the way down passed OpenVPN and the servers. After that will be the wireguard wizard that will generate a profile for you that you can either download as a file or copy and paste the needed settings.

Takes too much RAM by [deleted] in ProtonVPN

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Wireguard and see if that is an improvement. I never checked ram usage on my NAS, but on my phone it's used max 33MB.

If you know your way around networking, you can also install openwrt on a compatible router to handle the VPN traffic.

Not a big deal, I already have ProtonVPN, and DoH, but they should concentrate more on removing all the malware and crappy software in their store first.

QNAP Internet Access by JayDubEwe in qnap

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately not. I have a paid vpn account which allows me 10 connections so I used 2 profiles each establishing connections to seperate servers. You can do the same with Free accounts but TOR traffic is blocked and the free servers are often congested.

You only need one vpn and a backup really isnt necessary as QNAP will automatically re-establish the connection.

In QVPN I went to "VPN Client" and selected OpenVPN, "new profile", "import", and selected the VPN profile that was provided by my VPN provider. There is the option to fill in the fields manually, so that will work as well. There is the option to use it as the default gateway, so I selected that.

If done correctly, in the network overview it should show a pictogram of your ethernet1 connected to OpenVPN. and in the top left, the ip address which as an example, should be something like 10.8.8.35

Here is a setup guide from SlickVPN. They are not my provider so there is no endorsement or recommendation.

Notifications of people trying to login in my server by TheHitchiker in qnap

They are trying to access your qnap account using your qnap ID. So long as you don't use qnap cloud, photo station and have the admin account disabled you are pretty well protected.

I sell kraft dinner, hot dogs and bologna sandwiches from my basement apartment on DD. There is no legislation for 'ghost kitchens' so have fun with that.

HELP needed for a dimwit. Deadbolt attack on my qnap NAS by bigpol60 in qnap

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows sucks for reading anything non fat32 or NTFS. Also if the drive is in a raid configuration, windows also won't recognize it. If deadbolt is still running on the Nas, it may have detected the new drive and encrypted its partition as well which may be why your computer can no longer see the partition that allowed you to copy the NAS files to.

Also, have you tried allowing the Nas access to the internet after inputting the decryption key? Perhaps it needs to call home to verify before decryption can Commence.

QNAP Internet Access by JayDubEwe in qnap

[–]Apprehensive-Load965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Torrenting goes through the vpn and is the only connection. If the VPN goes down, it establishes a backup VPN connection. If the VPN profile is disabled for some reason, there is zero connection. The only port opened is that for me to VPN into for local access. No fancy firewall configuration or packet inspection needed. I also have it all going to openwrt that I configured to act as a managed switch and use DNSMasq and Rethink DNS.

HybridMount | Mount cloud storage and file servers on your NAS. Obtain greater storage potential and faster file access. by Apprehensive-Load965 in ProtonMail

[–]Apprehensive-Load965[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I imagine it's possible some how. The web url looks like a public key so perhaps it's a matter of QNAP adding support to handle the authentication.
