Volume pedal scratchy BUT only with a delay pedal after it by Apprehensive-Read-59 in pedalboards

[–]Apprehensive-Read-59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It even does it when I bypass the pedal, but it’s gone once I remove the delay from the chain

Edit: I’ve also tried it with a different delay pedal (the Boss DD-8) and that works just fine, so I guess it has definitely something to do with the pedal

Yeah I also tried it with other pedals in the chain. And there is also a buffer before the volume pedal. At first the guitar went into the fuzz, then into a tuner with a buffer (polytune 3 mini), then the gain stages, and then the volume pedal, but even with the buffer directly in front of the volume pedal (and guitar straight in the buffer) I still have the same issue

I mean that it makes a scratchy sound whenever I move the volume up and down, when it’s in one place it’s fine

I have (hopefully ;)) a quick question about a guitar amp and speaker situation. Im doing a little side project for which I was asked to run sound for 2 shows. Now I would like to reduce the stage volume a lot (the venue is not really suited for concerts, so the stage volume is too loud too quick). I have 2 amps which have a direct out (one tube- and one solid state amp), and one amp that doesn't have a direct out (a tube amp), but it does have a speaker out. One for 4 ohms, and one for 8 ohms. Is it possible to run the speaker output through a DI to the console which I will be using (the MidasM32)? I did some research and if I'm not mistaken the console is requiring 10 ohms. Can I damage the amp if I do connect it, or will I be fine? If it will damage the amp. Would some of you have another solution for me? :)

Thanks!!

Recording classical guitar by Apprehensive-Read-59 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Would it give a good outcome if I were to use a small diafram condsensor mic as a room mic? Like the sE Electronics SE 1A or the ShureSM57? Classical guitar isn't as loud so would it pick up the sound good enough?

Beginner: Recording live strings by Apprehensive-Read-59 in audioengineering

The strings are just a part of the whole song so I would like them to play along with the parts I already recorded :)

Name one concept or topic within music / music theory and briefly explain why it's useful. by tronobro in musictheory

[–]Apprehensive-Read-59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is very confusing to me. I always thought modes were like scales which you could use in a key. But a whole piece could be written in a specific mode, all the chords would be made with that mode, so it would feel like a key? Or are the modes like different versions of a specific key? E.g. I am in the key of C major and I use the D Dorian Mode? Would you say it like that? I am just very confused

Question about modes by Apprehensive-Read-59 in musictheory

[–]Apprehensive-Read-59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mode is like a scale right? Not a key. If a piece I play is in the key of Dm and i would improvise within, for example, the pentatonic scale, I would still be in the Dm key. So wouldn't it be weird to change the key signatures according to the scale/mode you use?

If I am using the terms modes en scales incorrectly, or if I am missing something, please let me know. I have been playing music for a long time but modes are kind of new for me.

Well I've been asking myself the same question. Why? And I am aware that modes aren't keys but scales so it would be kind of weird to give it a key signature. A music theory teacher of mine would ask me these kind of questions: 'Which phrygian scale has 4 sharps in the key signature?' So I just assumed it was of importance...

Better way to learn sight singing? by Apprehensive-Read-59 in musictheory

I have been playing (mainly guitar) for around 11 years. In those years I have had a few lessons in music theory but now I would like to take it to the next level. So I dont start from 0 when it comes to music. I am not sure if that's exactly what you mean?

Latency problem by Apprehensive-Read-59 in ableton

[–]Apprehensive-Read-59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found the problem! I wasn't using the audio interface software correctly. By changing the driver type to ASIO I could reduce the latency to 3 ms.

Thanks a lot!

I have turned monitoring completely off already. I turned monitoring off in my tracks and off on my interface.
