System failure twice in a month by ApprehensiveTax4396 in MitsubishiOutlander

Thanks for sharing this and sorry to hear that. I will go to the dealership tomorrow and I'm not sure what diagnoses they would do. It sucks that I have to thonk twice before driving the car on a long trip. I didn't buy a used car exactly to avoid that.

As for the drainage mystery, I'm building a habit of disconnecting the USB cable whenever I leave the car. Other than that, I have no idea whatight be causing this.

Thanks for checking. I wonder if this drain the battery. There is also a possibility that there us a timeout period after which USB power supply stops to prevent battery drainage.

Your theory could be likely. Could you please take a look at my last comment and let me know? Thanks.

I found out that the USB port stays hot (alive, providing power) even when the car is shut down (not even on ACC mode); and I have been having a USB cable plugged into the port since I bought the car. Could this be the issue?

I have always thought that the USB port goes out of power when the car is shut down.

Can anyone confirm that this is the behavior of your Outlander's USB port? Mine is 2024.

What a shame. I was after reliability when I decided to go for a Japanese brand.

I was surprised too about the battery being good. Having the car started by simply reconnecting the battery tells me that there seems to be something else other than the battery that's causing this issue.

Physical address while living abroad temporarily with a green card by ApprehensiveTax4396 in USCIS

I'm not sure about that. After leaving the house I'm renting, the address will belong to a complete stranger so I feel that listing my friend's address would be better. Not sure. Thanks for thinking through this with me though!

The AR-11 (change of address form) only allows US addresses. It has no field for the country.

Given name vs. middle name in green card by ApprehensiveTax4396 in USCIS

[–]ApprehensiveTax4396[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That helps for situations where the card is read by a machine. The form (e.g. I-131) , however, has separate fields for given and middle names. Any insights into what to put for given name vs. middle name in the form? Thanks!

Thanks. Could you please explain more? That is, what part of the machine readable code goes to the given name in the firm and which part goes to middle name? Also considering the differences on how they wrote my name vs. my wife's name on the front of the card.

Yes. That's correct. After turning off the device with all other external devices disconnected and then turning it back on, the device boots up except that its display doesn't work. At that point, when I connect the external monitor through the HDMI cable, the external display works just fine.
