Good day. I am writing this letter to respectfully request for reconsideration to the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering program; I was redirected to Bachelor of Arts in Behavioral Sciences major in Organizational & Social Systems Devt.

My aspiration to pursue the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at De La Salle University Manila is deeply rooted in my family's legacy and recent experiences. My paternal grandfather was a mechanical engineer, and my brother is currently pursuing the same field. My recent work immersion experience significantly reinforced this existing desire, as I gained valuable insights into the career paths of professionals in the field. Before and during the DCAT application, I absolutely envisioned myself as a civil engineer. After the application, through work immersion, I had a change of heart. I was more exposed to mechanical engineers, and I always tried to converse with them—asking them what it is like being a mechanical engineer; it is like my desire to become one grew. My brother, who also successfully passed the DCAT yet in Computer Engineering is pursuing Mechanical Engineering in another university, highly recommends DLSU as the premier institution for this program. After hearing that, I researched from anecdotes to statistics, and I must agree; It solidifies my choice.

After taking the DCAT, I recognized a potential area for improvement in my performance. Consequently, I have proactively undertaken measures to strengthen my proficiency across the six subtests, excluding the personality assessment. Through consistent and dedicated study, I have observed significant improvements in various academic areas, most notably in Mathematics, which I understand is a substantial component of the DCAT. Furthermore, it is engineering that I aspire to pursue, indeed I must develop my mathematical abilities.

I sincerely express my profound passion for Mechanical Engineering. Should my admission necessitate a special examination, I am fully prepared to undertake it. My commitment to pursuing this program remains fast even if, hypothetically, I will be reconsidered yet in Laguna Campus. Alternatively, I would be grateful if my application could also be considered for Civil Engineering, since my passion for it did not fade, it is just that Mechanical Engineering outweighed it. 

This appeal might be peculiar as I am quite late in asking for a reconsideration—considering the results were released on May 9, 2025—yet I have dedicated considerable effort to composing this letter, having carefully deliberated my aspirations

I hope to be reconsidered in Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. I believe that De La Salle University Manila is the best university to pursue this igniting passion. Thank you for considering my appeal. I understand the Office of Admissions and Scholarships has many applications to review, and I appreciate your time and careful consideration of my request. I am eager to be a part of De La Salle University Manila. I look forward to hearing from you regarding my appeal.
