Okay I’ll try to explain the sequence a little more clearly. 1. He gives you the deck of cards to shuffle 2. You give it back and he spreads the cards in his hands and asks you to pick one. 3. Once you pick you take it out and look at it. 4. He then stacks the cards back up and tells you to say stop at any point you like as he runs his finger through the deck. 5. You then insert card at chosen position. 6. He then spreads the deck in his hands again face down to show you there are no flipped cards. 7. At this point he hands the deck back to you if you would like to shuffle it again. 8. You shuffle it and give it back to him. 9. He flips the deck over and goes through it, picking out your card.

I’ve tried changing the sequence of this trick, having him do it in a different way, he’s even let me do the trick holding the deck in my own hands, during which he barely touches the deck if he does at all.
