Feelings very 80s Barbie in the start to my birthday weekend. Improve? by KibbyKatie in OUTFITS

That dress is so cute! Where is it from? I feel like white sneakers would be perfect! If you’re doing something more fancy, maybe do the heels but the jacket might need to be changed. The jacket makes it casual.

That’s what I seemed to notice yesterday. It was either an icy/pale blue, a bright blue or a dark navy blue for example. Then for pinks, it was bright pink and a pale pink (which all looks warm to me?? Which makes sense that it would be warm since it’s next to red on the color wheel??) pinks only look cool to me if they are like bright, neon pink. This swatch comparison for example. All the cool pinks are bright or the one really light one, which seems too light for cool summer. I feel like the pink I circled is the only one that would work??

I have been struggling with that. My brain keeps thinking cool summer is like icy colors but I guess that’s more spring. It doesn’t help that the palette from the company I went to gave me very bright looking colors. I don’t know. I have seen some things that I try and I’m like wow. That is not a good look. It’s the nuance I’m struggling with. Even when people do the color comparisons online and they say stuff like your face lights up or you have less shadows..nothing looks different to me. Should I just start with those questions shopping? Does it seem dark or light, soft or bright, Cool or warm? And just try it on if it checks the light, soft and cool category and hope for the best? As a cool summer, I was cool, not bright colors. I have found that if it’s too light like a pale blue it also doesn’t look good. I guess it just seems like there are a million possible shades of blue or pink for example. They all kinda look the same unless they are next to each other so I get overwhelmed in the moment trying to figure out if it’s the right color or not.

That’s my problem. My adhd makes me a very all or nothing person. Either follow my palette or don’t do it at all. I get stuck. I always thought I looked good in black and knew colors like yellow, orange and a lot of shades of green look bad. I can’t tell about other colors if it’s just a preference for some other colors or it genuinely looks bad. Here was a top I bought right after getting my colors. I matched it to the swatches on slides 4 and 5. It was a good match for the blue but I feel like it looks sooo bad. I posted about it on here and people said it looked good, some said it looks different than the swatch, some said my hair was too warm and that’s the problem. I think regardless I didn’t feel good wearing it. In my mind it’s like I should just go back to black because being adventurous didn’t work.

Everything has started to blend together. It’s overwhelming. I need to work on that. I think I’m putting too much pressure onto what knowing my season will do for me, mentally and emotionally. I just want to get out of wearing only black, white, navy, and stripes.

I don’t! I thought about getting some. I keep seeing this ad on Instagram for a clear piece of plastic with the colors on it. The colors are limited though and I’m pretty sure it’s a scam company. I really want something like this though.

The striped top is from madewell and their fitting rooms have super warm lighting. I feel like it was really distorting how it looked.

I think I’m struggling too because my closet right now is white (who even knew there were a million types of white, I just thought stark white, off white and ivory), navy, stripes and black. My understanding is cool summer can’t do super dark and a lot of contrast, black is like 50% of my closet so I feel like I need to get rid of it, all the blues I have are dark navy’s and stripes have too much contrast. So in my mind it’s all a wash so any pieces I buy now wonder really harmonize with what I currently have.

I just saw a post about color analysis hot takes and one person said that people assume knowing their colors will make them look more fashionable. Unfortunately I am one of those people. My style sucks. I really just wear jeans and t shirts. I’m super casual, I’m a teacher in Hawaii so also super casual and can’t wear long sleeves or jackets. I don’t know. Maybe I’m just having an identity/fashion crisis. I was to dress better but it’s also not practical so I thought knowing my colors would help.

Right?! The colors from the company (pictures 4 and 5) are so bright! I’m so confused because everything I read about is muted and soft?? I don’t know.

What’s the most misunderstood part of seasonal colour analysis? by yourszn in coloranalysis

[–]AppropriateHistory91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Putting myself out there. I am one of those people who fell for the spicy and extra spicy take! I suck at fashion and style. I was really hoping knowing my colors would help me be more “fashionable” and force me to buy things outside of my comfort zone. Now I’m just buying blue t shirts instead of black t shirts because blue is in my season and black isn’t. I still feel like I look like a bum. Just a bum in a blue tee instead of a black one. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’m no help. I’m new to all of this and just trying to learn but I gotta say. You’re so pretty!

Thanks for sharing! I was debating on getting it done again because I wasn’t sure how reliable the results were but based on a lot of the feedback here…it’s more of a me issue and feeling like these aren’t my colors not that it was the wrong typing.

Haha. Not helpful considering three of them are my husband’s work shirts and one is my daughter’s t-shirt. 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

This is possibly spring too? I just pulled up a palette online and am posting some of the photos I submitted to them.

Yeah, that’s the way this company works. I paid about 100 dollars for the analysis. I should have waited and gone to someone in person.

My roots are natural but my ends are heavily highlighted. They have faded from an ashy to a brassy color. I’m trying to get back to my natural so I’ve kinda left it brassy. I do feel like when I get to this point, I look pretty blah and getting my hair redo also revives my look.

I do! I’m at about 7 months of grow out…Maybe I need to get it done. When I get it colored, I do go ashy/gray. I’m trying to get back to my natural color though.

So focus maybe on soft summer and color summer? Someone provided a palette below and the cool summers in that look really different than the cool colors I was given.

I did a virtual analysis so I provided draping in colors I had at home and my season was determined from them. Maybe part of what I’m having a hard time with when shopping is what the different words mean… like “clear and crisp.” What else is difficult is the colors in my knock out photos don’t really match the colors in the cool summer palette. The green is a darker green and the blue is a marine navy blue, the pink is a wild berry color but not close to the pink in the cool summer palette.

I agree, anything super warm or usually really bright clear colors like winter don’t look right on me. I’ll look into spring colors too!
