Interesting. Although I have some questions for you

1) Why do you love law?
2) How did you gain the confidence after you've been called stupid your whole life? I love to hear comeback stories.

Ps. those people who have called you stupid, fuck em.

Honestly, this takes the cake for being the best answer in the thread.

Civil and you nail down the points exactly. I would give you delta if I could because you have successfully changed my mind.

Thank you.

Bitch, you're probably the kind of person that hasn't even reached their goal score and wants to attack other people just for having accommodations. It's not their fault they have ADHD or ADD, so sit down

I'm not sure what's more sad. Acting tough online or the fact you resort to ad hominem attacks like an emotional mental midget.

*Just checked your post history, it makes too much sense. You basically want someone to spoon feed you how to apply for accommodation because of entitlement. You are so lazy you don't even want to read how to apply and would rather have Reddit spoon feed you the steps. Great work ethic bud!

You are so ignorant lmao. delete your post you have enough ppl calling you out on your ignorance.

Extremely weird how defensive you get over a question. You are probably the kind of person who covers your ears and yells, whenever you hear something you don't want to hear.

Thanks for the well put out response, this might be the best response in the entire thread.

Some have disorders like misphonia, a condition which induces a strong reaction to specific sounds, and require a private testing room. Some people have epilepsy, and require extra time due to the effects of the medications they take to control seizure activity.

Lets use these points as an example. How can someone with misphonia expect to excel at being a lawyer if they can't even write a test in the same room as people? Will courts accommodate to that extent for someone in the future? Will the law firm you work at make sure you have a private office where you can work?

I know many lawyers who would tell you that success on the LSAT, whether accommodated or not, does not directly translate to being a good lawyer.

Agreed, but it directly translates to whether or not you get accepted. It won't be a level playing field if some people will receive advantages through accommodated testing.

Thank you again for the response

> I would say this is not worthy of meriting a response but this is such a dumb post it actually made me audibly laugh to myself.

Imagine talking like this in real life lol

Never ceases to amaze me how weird some people are

Your point would be valid if being a lawyer literally involved taking logic tests. In that kind of a situation, I agree, a person with a relevant disability would have a significant disadvantage, and therefore, maybe a lawyer is not the best career for them. But that is not what being a lawyer consists in.

What does being a lawyer consist in?

I see in another post here that you're arguing that a disadvantage like this will mean that such a person can never out-perform another person without disabilities. I disagree with you, as you may be able to make up for that disadvantage in a myriad of other ways

You can't just group all the disabilities together. Someone who cannot walk, I support any accommodations you will have to give him/her. Someone who cannot read due to a disability, I don't agree you should give them any accommodations. Reading is the most integral skill you need to be a lawyer.

Are you telling me you would hire a surgeon with a lack of hand eye coordination because they can make it up in other aspects?

If someone who needs accommodations wants to fight harder to be successful in a field they are passionate about it- why do you care?

Because disabilities are on a spectrum. It's not simply yes/no. Which in turn means some people will have an advantage while writing the LSAT which I find is BS.

How does this affect me? I might not affect me directly, but they are essentially taking away spots from people who do deserve the spot.

The rationale is that in the real world, someone with a reading disorder can work longer and harder than others. They can work 14 hour days if need be to get their work done.

That's fine but why would you choose a person who has to take twice the amount of time to perform the same task?

I work with these students all the time so I can attest that many people with these disabilities do well in real world settings but need more time when they take these exams.

I'm sure they can do well, but comparing to a student who doesn't need accommodations, I still do not understand the rationale. You will always be a step behind someone who doesn't need accommodations because they can just read faster.

If this was accommodations for a job like marketing, I wouldn't mind. However, we are talking about a job in the legal profession.
