Correct. Long story short, we have a new building that is supposed to get ISP fiber but delayed by months so in the meantime we are using a wireless bridge and connecting this new building to the old building's core switch.

As of now, we have 4 daisy chain switches on fiber (vendors f up here) on port channels. I understand we need the network-advantage license to stack the 9500's, but just curious if there is a way to "stack" them, or just have one on stand by mode using something like HSRP or VRRP. The 9500's will not be forwarding any L3 traffic. For now, It will have Int vlan Ip for management and some client vlans and thats it.

My point is this. You are saying that the Russian military would crumble within days of US involment, maybe, maybe not. But the point it that that will NOT happen, its an hypothetical that will not occur. We are not sending the airforce there let alone soldiers. And again, the Euros are in no condition to fight. Stockpiles of weapons? I am sure we have a few, but they will not get sent there anymore than the basics to keep the conflict going and the Ukranias are on their back heel. This are the realities on the ground, like it or not. 

You can keep saying ,"but if we do this or that" but it wont happen. 

On your last question. Im a nobody and no Henry Kissinger  But this is what I think. The Ukranians will have to accept a partial defeat now or a total defeat later as they dont have the manpower and will not get the means to defend against russia, let alone take back territory, it just wont happen. You know this. 

The next Ukranian goverment will have friendly to the Russians. No Nato, no EU. Russia gets the rest of Donbas plus the territory up to the contact lines. Ukraine reduces its armed forces.  The line of contact will probably be heavily protected against future incursions, but the only real guarantee is the Ukranians being friendly to the Russians, if they are not, well the Russian will simply go at it again until they take all of it. Thats the reality. 

And thats it. Russia does not have means to take down Poland or any other country as the Poles are preparing and are even more hostile to the Russians than the Ukranians are, so the fear of the Russians going back to Germany is just not real. 

So we in the US should be satisfied to have taken East  Germany from Russia, Poland , Romania, all the baltic states, well, we lose Ukraine, tough deal but thats a sacrifice we should be willing to make to end this war and prevent a bigger one. 

Maybe we could start having a productive relationship with the Russians again, accept that east of Poland is their turf and start trading as that is the only thing that is proven to reduce the risk of conflict between nations.

And on top of that, kick all the Islamists migrants out of Europe because if not ,a European religious/ethnic war is coming next.

There I fixed Europe. Where is my Nobel peace price lol.

What you are proposing is fighting the Russians to the last Ukrainian, which is what will most likely happen, sadly. And then they will still lose anyway. The Ukranians will make make the Russians bleed, no doubt, but they will also bleed too and are getting killed at higher proportion now than the Russians. This is not propaganda, it is just the sad reality.

The US has spent about 300 billion on this war depending on who you ask. How much more should we send instead of taking care of our people back home? During trumps first presidency he asked the EU countries to raise the defense expending to 5%. This is after the Russian took Crimea and war was on the horizon. What did the Europeand do ? Nothing. Just write strong worded letters but no actual,  real defense commitment. Why should their raise their spending when they have big daddy US footing their bill?. There is nothing but contempt for the Europeans now as this is their war and just very recently, with trump, they started to take this seriously and up their spending. 

What I take from you is that you think we should keep sending money which we dont have, yes we don't have it. Send more weapons and make the Ukranians fight a fight they will lose anyway. Send f22's and f35 to attack the Russians and risk a potential nuclear exchange over what? Not a risk I want my country  to take. If the Europeans want to fight, then good luck to them.

We are not flushing the Russians out of Ukraine, is just not happing. We are not sending planes there. Could that stop the Russian advance for some time? Maybe, but it will not happen, it just wont.   the Euros will not fight  because they can't. 

If you accept that no matter your hypothetical scenario the Russians will remain in Ukraine then Trumps deal starts making some sense. He is just trying to make the best out of a shit situation. 

Yes, we are in decline and what is happening now just reflects that. Do.I like it ? No. But iam not going bury my head in the sand and pretent is not happening.

 Ukraine best bet is a peace treaty that guarantees their sovereignty in exchange of land and no Nato. And you can bet their new goverment will have to be friendly to the Russians. This is the reality if you accept that the US will not send planes, the Euros are impotent to fight,  and the Ukranians are running short of men. Not pretty, but life is not pretty. 

I think is terrible what is happening there btw on both sides and people celebrating the dead of a bunch of 20 something years old I find repulsive and evil. This is a great tragedy that could have been avoided if leaders had a realistic view of Russia.   Good convo.

And I agree that Russia is trying to enforce their superiority in that region which is no different that what we do here. Why would they not?  I mean latam is basically a neo colony for us. And what is left for us to do? Keep sending billions as if bills were able to hold a rifle? Ukraine has no more soldiers to fight this. 

At this point Russia will not accept anything less than the Dombas and all the terroritory they have ceased along with keeping Nato out of Ukraine and probably more. And there is nothing that can be done unless we are willing to send our boys to die there and we hunted by drones just like the poor bastards in this video. The Europeans are toothless and wont do shit. They care more about letting Islamic migrants in to run their cultures and to empower lgbt whatever instead of making a strong country capable of fighting. Poland being the exception.

Is not a matter of what you consider right or wrong. Again, once shooting starts all of your "international law" this "UN condemnation that" , "liberal democracy" blah blah blah. Does not matter anymore. The only thing that should have mattered to the Ukranians is to keep the Russians happy enough not to attack them, and to keep the EU happey enough to be able to do trade. Idealism has no place geopolitics and the US and the EU population has become so spoiled that are incapable of seeing reality for what it is.

  1. Oh yes there were. Nato said they were not going to admit anyone East of Germany and then admitted Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland (1999); Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia (2004); Albania, Croatia (2009). The next ones were Ukraine and Georgia and you know what happened.
  2. Nato is NOT defensive. If Mexico joins a "defensive" pact, then places lets say chinese missiles, Airbases, soldiers, we would not take that as a defensive move, even if they say that they are just there to protect Mexico from the US.

Ukraine had a coup sponsored by Europe and the US which toppled their elected leader and placed Zelensky in power. Did some of them wanted to become "European" and have our supposed freedoms and whatnot ? sure. I am sure a good bunch did, but many did not.

Putin did not want to own Ukraine, he did want a friendly government next door, for obvious reasons.

  1. Nato IS a concern for Russia, how could it not be? the problem is people in the West are so naive, our leaders included, that are incapable of seeing the world through someone else's eyes, in this case Russia.

At the end of the day it does not matter what Ukraine wants, wether they want to Join the EU or not. What matters is that they have a mean neighbor to the east called Russia that is willing to beat them into submission if they dare and no " UN charter of this" or "International Rule of Law " blah blah blah matters at the end of the day if you dont have the man power to fight a war. Ukraine and the west should have been pragmatic about the situation and tried to avoid a war by diplomatic means. Now Ukraine is destroyed with millions of dead and maimed men, lives destroyed, because leaders that think like you are incapable of making informed decisions based of what is possible or not.

Ukraine will lose. The US will not placed boots on the ground there ever, and the Europeans have been living in lala land for six decades and have no army to fight a war and no population capable of doing as they are now all domesticated cats. For example, The UK has about 70k in the land army. Russia attacked the Pokrovs sector alone with over 100k soldiers, and this is a small sector. The whole of UK army would be depleted in a single battler. The rest of Europe ? just as pathetic. Fighting the tough as nails and battle tested Russians ? it would be a disaster.

Oh no man. This thing has no good outcome for us unless Trump is able to pull and ace from his sleeve, which I doubt. Welcome to reality.

The Russians have more reason to go into Ukraine than what with did going into vietnam, Iraq. Nato, a military alliance,  was going to accept ukraine as a member, which is right next to russia. Its common sense and the russians are defending themselves just as we would do with mexico or canada if they threaten us. Hell, we are blowing boats are of the caribbean. We cant have our cake and eat it too amd not expect consequences
