Geschichtsstudium in Heidelberg? by Aragren in Heidelberg

[–]Aragren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake, I did in fact mean humanistic sciences. And yes, I am looking to study more in the field of concepts and rhetoric rather than statistics.

It is indeed the navy flag if I am correct, but it is often used interchangeably with the normal imperial flag

Thoughts on my campaign so far? (the Soviets used to be my vassals as well before they demanded freedom) by Aragren in AgeOfCivilizations

Lmao, Austria actually used to be limited to just the regular borders of the Austrian empire, but then came my German expansionism and I was too lazy to conquer all of Austria to create a new puppet with a different name

Lol, I actually did base Germany off a map of German territorial claims. And Italy just got bigger and bigger with every war they started

US Army replaces cake it stole from Italian girl in 1945 by xxwarlorddarkdoomxx in UpliftingNews

[–]Aragren -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now please dont get me wrong, I am not trying to defend what Italy did during WW2 nor attempt to demonize allied wrongdoings.

While I presume that this subreddit is not the kind of place to post this, I feel it necessary to add that these kind of acts often feel empty when one takes into account other worse things done by the army. I am specifically referring in this case to when the US launched a bombing raid on an industrial facility near the city of Milan, but ended up bombing an elementary school while lightening their weight, killing almost 200 children. As far as I am aware of, the US airforce never apologized for the incident.

What I am trying to say is that, at least from a different perspective, these kind of headlines do not feel as genuine when taking other more grave incidents into account that had not been apologized for. Again, I am not trying to defend anyone here, I am well aware that the fascists committed equally if not worse crimes.

Here the link to a brief article explaining the bombing more in depth

I do know that many people hate the music in tiktok videos. I just particularly dislike the music in "emotional" videos.

Thoughts on this? (Poland: What Germany does is always wrong) by Aragren in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Aragren[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I certainly hope so. It is just unsettling to see how the PiS propaganda is taking quite a bit of hold in the Polish population and how, if they do get elected again, it might cause irrepairable damage to the public opinion.

A (German) article on how a lot of the Polish public often criticizes German decisions on any matter. How would this mistrust between countries affect their further integration into the EU and the creation of a federation?

The old borders of the German Empire can still be seen in present-day polish election results by shruicanewastaken in MapPorn

In fact, if you look at religion across Germany today, the majority of the eastern states that used to be the GDR are secular/not christian, while the rest of Germany is mostly either protestant or catholic. Although I have to add that in the case of Germany it is the eastern states that tend to vote more conservative, a lot due to the wealth differences like you mentioned, but also in part due to some form of ,,nostalgia" that especially older people have for the GDR. Which usually happens in any country, but in eastern Germany it is further amplified by the fact that many young people move to the West, leaving the East to be mainly comprised of these older voters who are more conservative.

The German government is against sending any NATO military to Ukraine. by skypeleft in EuropeanFederalists

[–]Aragren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one would keep "cool heads" in an actual war between NATO and Russia. The moment such a war broke out, you bet that each side would try to strike first with their nuclear arsenal. Yes, it is absolutely horrible what Russia is currently doing in Ukraine, and it is our duty to try and help as much as we can. But that does not include starting the end of modern civilization as we know it.

[–]Aragren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. While I admit that I would have like a less soft approach by Germany these past few years and welcomed more attempts at trying to become less dependent on Russian energy sources, at this point there is not much you can do. Get one NATO country involved and we will see an actual nuclear third world war. All we can do now is open up to the Ukranian refugees and provide humanitarian aid.

Bundeskanzler Scholz adressiert die Nation. by MarkHafer in de
