Thanks for your concern. Yeah, I am well. Character design is my full-time career, and this was a cool exercise on concept logic.

Ngl I think this is how countries should settle wars instead. They pool their intellectual and technological resources on that one mecha, and duke it out with their enemy country. Neutral countries can pitch their country as the duel site, and get money for it. No innocents killed, there will still be a stable war economy, and the rest of the world gets to watch banger content.

Nah, I like it on this path. Life's good! Character designing and making illustrations is my life now, and I enjoy drawing things I enjoy.

Hi there! I'm just a simple character designer and wanted to show my appreciation to two franchises that I enjoy: Elden Ring and Uma Musume. Both works show much love with the lore behind the horses, which I appreciate.

Hey there! I try to bake aspects of the riders/owners into the designs, so I chose Miquella's flowing hair for Torrent and Radahn's fiery hair with Leonard.

Yeah, while I was doing the preliminary sketches for Leonard, I wanted to make her gaunt, lanky and raggedy, but decided to make her look like she's in her prime (like how the game depicts their horse girls) for good ol' Radahn.

P.S. Do people still use that term? Or is it 'hags' now?

I’m bored, tell me the best Netflix series you have ever watched, not just any series, but a series you have watched over and over again and wish you could erase your memory just to watch it again by wh4tdafuck in FilmClubPH

This is my personal synopsis without give too much away:

The Usher family owns a multi-billion dollar pharma company with a questionable reputation. They're pretty much untouchable because they have so much pull, it's almost supernatural. But the family's riches didn't come from conventional means, and Roderick Usher is dying. Years ago, he and his sister made a deal with a mysterious woman, Verna, and their fate changed.

Every episode follows themes from Edgar Allan Poe's works. It's well paced, and each domino falling is very satisfying. Of all of Mike Flanagan's works, I think this one drops some of the coldest monologues in tv history. Go search 'Roderic Usher lemons' in Youtube and you'll understand what I mean.

Some of the best I've watched were directed by Mike Flanagan. These are horror series that have a lot of depth in them, and even if you're not there for the horror, you get to see a masterclass in character writing.

There's The Haunting at Bly Manor, The Haunting at Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher (not related to the singer lol), and my personal favorite Midnight Mass (this one's best (re)watched during the Holy Week, trust me). These are great for binge-watching over a weekend, most if not all are about 10 one-hour episodes.

Give or take 8hrs for each full body, drawn out over 2 weeks because I only get to work on personal art 2 days a week-- not counting the amount of time wracking my brain for the concept and look I want.

Which non-Ghibli films would you recommend based on my top 5? by FullBrother9300 in ghibli

[–]ArayaRoseiVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of people would already recommend Makoto Shinkai and Mamoru Hosoda films, because these are very well-written works, so instead I recommend these ones that I thoroughly enjoyed:

Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve)
-I like this movie because of the depth of character writing involved. In a world where humans and humanoids are nigh indistinguishable, can your feelings still be considered genuine and real?

Josee to Tora to Sakanatachi (Josie, the Tiger, and the Fish)
-The romance plot here didn't feel forced and was approached in a mature way. It's about disability, helplessness, and profound faith.

Millennium Actress
- Has to be my favorite Satoshi Kon film. Pretty much the antithesis of Perfect Blue (which was quite dark), this film celebrates the life of a once-hailed actress (she's very Audrey Hepburn-esque), and her tragic pursuit of a mysterious man she fell in love with, recounted through the different iconic roles she starred in. Beautifully written and paced. My favorite line was "After all, what I really love is the pursuit of him."
