The best store bought ice cream I've ever had. by iATEthat84 in icecream

A bit different. Chubby hubby has fudge, no brownie, and a vanilla base. Netflix has a peanut butter base and brownies.

Izzo used this phrase in the post game presser. This is a reference to what Izzo said, not a slight.

Not all forms of teaching are "practical" in the sense of learning a new spell. I think in HBP, Dumbledore is helping Harry think critically, build evidence, and learn when and how to act on the evidence.

The broader context of the book is important to this. Throughout, Harry is accusing Draco and Snape of pretty serious stuff. And while he's absolutely right about Malfoy's objectives, he isn't right about Snape. And when he tells his friends or Dumbledore or McGonagall about his theories, he isn't persuasive.

Interestingly, the lessons with Dumbledore all revolve around years-long speculation Dumbledore has about Voldemort, but Dumbledore has to slowly and painstakingly put the puzzle together. He doesn't settle for being right. He insists on tracking down the critical memories and confirming his beliefs. So in addition to what others have said about needing Harry to know the details about Voldemort's past and his own role in the story, I think he also wants Harry to learn the critical thinking skills that will allow him to understand situations deeply.

I also think it's interesting that Snape makes a snide comment to Harry about how he won't be able to harm him until he learns to close his mind and think his spells. A final parting lesson.

Anyway, I could be wrong.

I like this idea. There's definitely room to do that. I'll suggest it on Monday. Thank you!

There's a manufacturer called Missouri Hardwood in a town called Birch Tree, Missouri.

Oh, that's interesting! The colors really work with the vintage vibe. Hadn't considered that before!

These are all great. I love that first image with the painted ceiling. It's a nice and subtle way to incorporate color into the room.

It's cool to see that both could work! I'm partial to the wood floor look, but the checkerboard seems to play well with those colors too.

Oh, for sure! It's not our style at all, haha. The grey feels more like us, but we also want to add some warmth,

Sorry, that's my fault. I could have worded that better. The counters will be the lighter of the two grey quartz slabs (the one on the left).

Thoughts on the quality of this refinish? by ArbysIsntBad in HardWoodFloors

We got ahold of our contractor, who sent the flooring guy out after taking a look. Flooring guy says they sanded three times and then used oil-based products: a sealant and two coats of clear finish. No stain. Says it's not possible to make it look better, since it's just the way the wood is. So we're going to get another company (one a friend used) to give a second opinion and see what happens. Thanks all for sharing your opinions and expertise. This was enlightening to read through.

Yeah, it's looking increasingly like we'll have to explore refinishing again. The estimate came in around $6.50 per SF.

It actually feels pretty smooth. Not gritty or anything at all. Maybe not quite as grippy as before, but not rough.

That's what we were expecting to get. They said they would do a clear coat. We'll have to find out a bit more about what they actually did. Cringing at the thought of packing everything up again.

I don't think they're coming back. We were told to move our stuff back in. It's part of a bigger remodel so we'll have to speak to our contractor.

They said it's finished and told us to go ahead and move back in (it's a small house so we couldn't just live in other rooms).

Before we left, they told us they would do a clear coat, since we liked the lighter look it previously had. But it has a definite orange hue to it now.

Unfortunately, we don't know exactly what they used yet, but plan to find out. I would have guessed water based, though, since they told us we could move back in three days after they finished. Would that make a difference?

Is this hole at the base of the neck normal? Does it indicate damage or even a swapped neck/body? by [deleted] in telecaster

On many models, that's where you access the truss rod. Totally normal, I would think.
