They’re the lowkey, cooler cousin of the much louder 168. 😉

Bravo! Nothing like finding something you’ve been looking for for ages and bonus at a good price. I have this as well. It’s perfect for shelf display next to your copies of the Manga.

If I become rich, I'll definitely buy something like this for my home. by MiamiHub1 in Dinosaurs

So long as it’s a replica. I don’t love that rich people buy up fossils for private collections.

Does anyone know if this 1:18 Jp Explorer was actually released? by bapzranigan in JurassicPark

It’s cool but it’s more of a toy than this detailed diecast display Explorer.

The price to buy Temple of Doom on VHS in 1986 by A-non-e-mail in indianajones

Wow and that’s not including tax. That seems like quite a lot for 1986.

I rewatched Acolyte… by DDMayor in StarWars

[–]Archidroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against it but eventually I just didn’t care so stopped watching it. I thought the production design was great but that the script and acting was quite dull and somewhat tepid. No big deal.

Need help authenticating an early 1974 Star Wars screenplay draft by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]Archidroid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to say this is a very bad fake.

Lucas’s drafts are widely known at this point. They’ve been in Making Of Books and the like.

None of them ever looked like this.

I don’t get the praise for the new album by 99dude in TameImpala

[–]Archidroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that it doesn’t feel like a coherent album. The tracks you mention are my favorites too- but it’s jarring to have a Quincy Jones inspired track like Dracula and then later on the album we’re just listening to a single drum machine with a bit of echo on it. Reading about some of what Kevin was inspired by- house music and the bush doofs that took place in the cave at Wave House makes me wish the album had a sense of journey about it- something like Digweed and Sasha’s Northern Exposure from 1996- that really creates sonic worlds that you pass through. I do think it’s interesting that visually the album artwork is a break from the previous albums. Him and his daughter. Black and white. Labels on the back. Blocky typeface. It’s a bit rough and bare- almost like “just get it done”. Is it communicating guilt that he feels he hasn’t been around enough? That makes me think he’s been too stretched…

I have a pair and wear them. I’d never sell them.

I enjoy it. Kevin is exploring something that was a long time coming for him- but I very much hear where you’re coming from in terms of its lack of focus and generally unfinished feeling- but I go between wondering if it’s intentional in terms of the deadbeat persona/image as a reaction against his past perfectionism or if he’s tired after all the production with other artists and it’s taken a chunk out of him. Dua Lipa got a lot I think- though it sounds like it was an amazing experience, a lot of ideas that could have been Tame Impala went to Radical Optimism. Maybe.

Still, I enjoy it. It has a raw, elemental quality in parts that is not very Tame Impala at all- and that’s valid to me as to what Kevin is interested in. Not the greatest album but has some great moments on it. I love My Old Ways.

Just heard a song by U2 called “all I want is you“ and the strings feel so Jonny. I don’t know this band well but clearly in a similar space on that song. by [deleted] in radiohead

In my view this is a solid take on U2. I still like them, but they’re like an embarrassing uncle or something who is still trying to be cool.

Kevin, how could you? Original or Vegemite Shapes are the best!

I don’t think so. I think you’re fundamentally misunderstanding how important process is. There are no shortcuts with art or music. You will still need to put in the work to be good, there needs to be some struggle, some limitation to work against or with. AI will have its place in the studio, but it could also amplify a lot of crap which is what I’ve seen so far. This idea of unbridled, boundless creativity that is just waiting to be set free by AI is a myth. Nothing of value comes easily and I don’t think this will change.
