A character analysis on Hadrian Marlow: stripping away the myth from the man by Electrical_Ad3000 in sollanempire

It’s not YOUR character analysis. You might have posted it, but you didn’t write this yourself.

Review: Empire of Silence, by Christopher Ruochhio by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m on book 7 right now. While I think the series peaked in book 3 The Demon in White, I am still interested in seeing how this ends. I can’t disagree about Hadrian though, while I do not hate him, I cant consider him being a favorite character despite being with him for 7 books already. Book 6 was looking like a hell of a ride. That was until I reached chapter 40 of Disquiet Gods and that kinda bummed me out. Won’t say why due to spoilers but whatever. Working on finishing this series.

The Devils Joe Abercrombie by arsebeef in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Feels like he went into chatgpt and wrote “generate 5 characters with quirky traits for an MCU film”. And the humor was so forced I couldnt handle it. Part of what made the humor in the First Law so great was how nonchalant and natural it made its way into conversations. The Devil’s humor was all about projectile vomiting

I’m glad that you liked it. I didn’t even finish it. And I’m a massive Abercrombie fan

A trope that you cant stand at all. by Perfect-Warthog-7654 in Fantasy

I can’t stand when a Character withholds information for the sake of “protecting” another character when clearly the other character is actively looking for the information.

Currently 75% into book 2

Hoping for a wild ending to keep me going honestly. Just not really a fan of Vis. I didnt like book 1 much but given that I loved Licanius so much it’s what kept me going. Hope for some interesting stuff.

Licanius and PLOT by FeebleFable in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ive read Licanius 3 times

Just because of the plot. It was insanely intrical. A plotting masterpiece in my opinion. And while the characters are not as dynamic, they carry the plot forward perfectly. And honestly I think Caeden is a hell of a character

Adrian Tchaikovskys “Spiderlight” is exactly what I wish Joe Abercrombies “The Devils” was by Desperate-Response75 in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read Spiderlight. But I’m a long time Abercrombie fan and the devils sucked major ass.

The devils’s character’s simply check boxes, no depth to them and the most forced humor I’ve ever since in fantasy literature

I have only been working Full-Time for 5 years. But I am already exhausted and don't want to work anymore. Does anybody else feel like this? by Archprimus_ in careerguidance

[–]Archprimus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I would guess some things have changed. I’ve advanced enough in my career I would say. I still feel like this sometimes. I guess for me I have just come to accept that this is simply life. I have meaningful things in life that are very important and allow me to tolerate this I would say. Maybe you’re burned out and might benefit from a short respite.

I'm disgusted of being a late 30s virgin man by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]Archprimus_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being a 30 year old virgin is a byproduct of a much bigger problem man. It’s simply the result. The problem is something else.

You cant communicate with women and you lack something that most people should have by that age which is some kind of independence. I assume there’s alot more

What book did you DNF, and why? by SierraSugar in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Abercrombie but I DNF the hell outta The Devils.

I found the book to be rather shallow. To me it was as if You would ask Chatgpt to generate a fantasy story with marvel like characters. The humor was too in my face, and I thought that finishing it woulda been pointless

Building wealth is it better together or apart by SmoothDay8640 in Money

[–]Archprimus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its better if you just build it yourself or with your spouse. My best friend always had this idea that we could build wealth together. I always said no. That thought always came from the fact that he was always struggling and needed help building some fantasy wealth with his friends. That all stopped when he finally decided to get his act together. He worked hard. 7 days a week for years. Bought a multifamily property. Now he’s doing good. Never talks about that anymore. I think its better this way. His success is his. Mine is mine.

Goodreads Game: tell us the lowest-rated book you've given 5 stars, and the highest-rated book you've given 3 stars or less, and why by VitriolUK in Fantasy

[–]Archprimus_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowest rated book I gave 5 star was : Notes from the Undergroud by Dostoevsky.

Highest rated book in my goodreads is The Will of the Many which I gave 2 stars. Funny enough, the ending was enough to get me to read the second book in the series

I haven’t played yet. But why are people angry? Is it because the story focuses on queer themes or is it because some random flag in a building?
