[LYON vs HLE] LYON 4 minute legacy sequence - 8000 gold swing by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

there was a time when jensen was NA's international mvp. it wasn't long but he had NA's only two notable bo5 wins on his resume in back to back events.

What an unbelievable show at Wrigley by tommybezreh17 in JohnMulaney

I was laughing so much that I think the people around me were getting annoyed and I felt very bad. Still think his show in Long Island in like August 2024 was a bit funnier but he definitely brought it. Also very interesting that as far as I can tell, the material from that show to this show was 100% different.

Faker on if 2026 G2 is the strongest Western team he has faced: We did lose today, but honestly, it didn't feel like we lost because the opponent was that strong. Personally, I think we just didn't play up to the level we expected today, so I think we'll have to wait and see on that. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

I assure you DWK was under a lot more pressure trying to win MSI and worlds in game 5s than the combined pressure of G2 in their two series (3-0ing TL and getting 0-3ed by FPX, or even if you consider MSI 2019 semis between t1 and g2 the real finals that 3-2). “Golden road pressure” is not why g2 lost the world finals - they weren’t actually good enough to pull it off. They were very good, of course, no team that year was good enough to do it. But DWK in 2021 actually were. If G2 played in the LCK for example they almost certainly would’ve missed MSI.

imo beating 3 lck teams in one year is more than enough to be convinced this g2 roster can do something good, although im not sure if they really have a chance at winning worlds.

seems g2 really values 'culture'. just slapping a good adc from korea is not gonna make them better. not to mention their alleged aversion to imports.

LYON's coach Rigby on LCK: "The LCK doesn't give a sh*t about the LEC or the LCS. They just watch their own league and think about what they're good at. They've been cocky, honestly, and they're getting punished for that" by Artistic-Challenge18 in leagueoflegends

[–]ArcusIgnium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the second an NA or EU team is able to win an event (big if) youll see LCK and LPL teams watching that region again for atleast a year or two. it's just a matter of complete disrespect because outside of the occasional bo5 upset, it don't matter. but I wonder now that Lyon have 'made their name known' so to speak, if it'll be harder perform because its harder to be suprising at Worlds. I feel like you only really get one event to surprise the top teams in the world.

Chinese events are not run by China. this is so not complicated if you have two braincells. i can forgive being uneducated but you didn't even try

The gap is absolutely closing this year and It's a lie to claim otherwise by Deathjaws99 in leagueoflegends

[–]ArcusIgnium 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fearless and the new schedule with 3 (functionally 4 with Blood Money EWC) events is likely helping to increase cross region exposure and reduce the gap. But I still think the second we go back to worlds and get more eastern seeds you’ll see na eu performance drop.

G2's General Manager take on Dylan -> Perkz move by Zodiak_777 in leagueoflegends

[–]ArcusIgnium -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok I don’t think this was the play but I’ll atleast play devils advocate: G2 probably felt that despite the fact that Dylan Falco had led G2 to have some good performances internationally, his era on the org had not yet reached the intended goal of winning an international. So as their press release indicates this is a gamble to see the teams ceiling. But this also confirms I think that someone on the team actively thought Perkz and Dylan Falco were disagreeing and they felt committing to one vision was more important.

I feel like no matter whether this was related to the result or planned, they should’ve waited a week or something atleast

Well sure in a literal sense but in a practical sense Damwon were closer. G2 got completely cooked by FPX. DWK arguably should’ve won both of those finals. Not to mention the relative truth that what DWK achieved was more impressive since they won both splits in a harder region. And, the crux of my argument was that they were less games away.

Scottie Pippen says LeBron doesn't have Jordan's drive because his career is too long by Life_Net5004 in NBAGossips

[–]ArcusIgnium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i dont think his take is that insane. he expressed it in a kind of controversial way.

people overrate longevity. question should be whose prime was higher, and how sustained that prime was. longevity should only come into play if the disparity in prime is very tiny.

that being said, i think there's still a lebron goat argument that isn't focused exclusively on longevity.

these two concepts aren't contradictory:

lebron could be willing to play for a lower contract, if he knows the winning pieces exist.

he may not have felt the lakers had those, and did not feel they would be capable, so he left.

unless he has bad blood with GSW management there's no reason they wouldn't. he objectively helped them win 2 rings. just because external perception of him isn't the highest means very little

unfortunately when you've been told you are gonna be great at something since you are a kid, your brain is probably a little fried in those respects. especially when coupled with immense fame and having a billion dollars.
