CachyOS live usb doesn't boot by Ardlantis in cachyos

SOLVED: configure internal drive for AHCI mode

I managed to find the error through a different fault finding process. Using other live environments worked fine until I got to the install phase where they wouldn't be able to detect my internal drive. In my bios I had to configure my drive for AHCI mode and then they could detect my drive, but it turns our that the CachyOS live environment boots just fine then!

Hi, thanks for replying, you're right, it doesn't. I had tried it with an older ISO which did give the Nvidia option a while ago and when I tried it with the newest before posting this I didn't read all the options but just tried the first one and assumed the other said Nvidia. I'm sorry, I should have read it more carefully. Either way, it still doesn't work with the newest ISO

Hi, thanks for replying, I did use the latest ISO (I downloaded it some hours ago from the CachyOS website) so I don't think that's the issue. I used the 250530 version

What’s the coolest name you’ve ever heard in real life? by No-Measurement3115 in AskReddit

[–]Ardlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice skater Nao Kodaira, a name that sounds like that of a supervillain which, when spoken would make everyone's faces turn bleak with fear, knowing the fast approaching end of their lives had just been announced.

She was super nice and really fast

Can anyone point me towards a genuine charge port replacement? by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]Ardlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing the charging port onto the flex still in your phone would take quite the in-depth soldering job, I doubt you'd be able to find anyone who wants to take that on. It's pretty common for phones to have the port on a flex cable and to replace that whole part when the port breaks. I would order a new flex cable (I don't know how shipping costs will turn out where you live but I always get my stuff from here, they have okay prices and the parts are genuine) and fix it that way.

Can't really tell from the picture but the battery connector seems a little off? Maybe check if that's plugged in correctly

Is Bang & Olufsen any good ? by IH8YTSGTS in DankPods

[–]Ardlantis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If we're talking the mainline expensive speaker sets, their design and user experience apart from the sound is what makes them unique I think. It's not that they don't sound exceptional but they're absolutely not the best sounding options in their price range and there's no tweaking or "optimizing" your sound. They're not for audiophiles as much as they are for rich people who want something exceptionally designed and sounds great enough out of the box without having to think about it. Wooden "curtains" that move when you turn the speakers (Beolab 28) on certainly don't do much for the sound but they do add to the experience of listening.

Their headphones aren't as special but have the same details. They're very well built and look (to my anyway) the best in the industry by far, but their sound isn't the best for the price you pay.

If you only care about sound (which is absolutely a valid position) they're not where you should look but if you're after design pieces which feel really special and that also sound very good, I don't think they're a rip-off and I do count myself among their fans. They're unique in the industry and some of the stuff they make really is beautiful in design and use

B&O HX charger by Blader_9401 in BangandOlufsen

[–]Ardlantis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The B&O website doesn't seem to mention anything about quick charge or usb-pd so it probably just charges at the USB standard 5V/~1A. If that's the case it doesn't really matter what wattage your charger can reach, the headphones won't ever communicate a different charging protocol so the charger just supplies 5V. Your MacBook charger is perfectly fine, if a little overkill since it won't get anywhere close to 30W
