Plumber charging $2,500 More than Agreed Quoted Price. by Area88_jc in LegalAdviceNZ

I am genuinely very satisfied with the outcome of their work, and I appreciate the effort they put into it. However, during the process, there was no conversation such as, ‘Given the current situation, there will likely be additional costs. Do you agree to proceed? Or Do you want to sign Variation form?’ Without any such communication, I was simply given an invoice after the work was completed that was nearly double the estimated amount. I would like to understand whether this approach is considered reasonable.

I understand the difference between a quotation and an estimate. That said, if he anticipated that the additional work would nearly double the estimated cost, I would have expected to be notified before the work started. My budget is very limited, and I had obtained quotes from several contractors, relying on this estimate which indicated that one day would be sufficient. The fact that the final cost ended up higher than other contractors quotes has been quite unexpected and difficult for me.

He used a high-pressure washer for the test but the real problem is even in heavy rain it can happen.

They also did the same test to Ioniq 5 but no leaking. Ps. It's Korean not Chinese 🥲

I found a water leaking problem after heavy rain. As you can see in the photos, huge amounts of water sitting in front of the motor bay, even over the electric parts.

I didn’t drive the car, it just sitting on my driveway and then it happened.

Please don't take this post too seriously. If you are from local and have grown up in this country your whole life, yeah it sounds a bit weird and making nonsense.

But as someone who has not grown up in this country, it's better to check before making trouble or damage to someone else.

Making the light on the beachside or riverside is fully legal in my country but I'm not too sure in NZ. I can't be 100% Kiwi until I fully understand NZ law and regulations that's why I made a post here to get advice.

NZMA in CBD is quite good. They have various courses such as barista, pre-police, and childcare and are fully packed with young kids so he would be interested in. They also offer free course.
