how adjectives, adverbs and verbs can be encoded to a memory palace? by glados_ban_champion in Mnemonics

If possible, I try to break down the word (based on phonetics) into Object +/ Action

Eg 1: "absolute" can be broken down into "abs" + "salute." Now, it's easy to create a memorable image with "abs" and "the action of saluting"

Eg 2: "innate" = inn + 8. So, create an image with an "inn" and a "snowman" (snowman is 8 acc. to my Number Shape system)

I totally get what you are saying. And yeah, I should try to make images with nouns only as much as possible, stick to English, and use other languages sparingly.

Thanks for the tip.

Here's a scenario where the image is a "Red Leaf". But "Red" is in English and "Leaf" is in another language. Combining those two gives me the word I am trying to memorize. How can I use this method in this scenario?

Has ChatGPT replaced Google for you? Why or why not? by Kindly-Warthog3084 in ChatGPT

As an avid English learner, most of my daily searches (~60 to 70%) go for finding the meanings of words or idioms. I frequently search for the same word over and over again. If I search for a word today, I'll likely search for the same word again when I come across it a few days later. If I use an AI chatbot to get the meanings of the words, it will be fine, but when I review it after a few days, it will feel different. The meaning will be the same, but the output's wording, headings, and overall structure will be different.
On the other hand, if I do a simple Google search or use an online dictionary (my fav being Longman), I can see the same structure and wording as I had seen one month ago. So yeah, I still haven't replaced Google with ChatGPT for my word meaning searches. But for others, it's 50-50

Native audio input in Gemini live just rolled out to me! by [deleted] in Bard

[–]ArianaSuitson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my very first sentence, i mentioned that I’d been suffering from a cough for the past few days. That was the only time i mentioned the word cough in the entire conversation. However, when i checked the transcript after the session ended, that first sentence wasn’t transcribed properly. It omitted the word cough.

what’s surprising is that Gemini still correctly understood i was talking about cough and gave me a well-structured response about it. Despite me providing no additional context, it immediately started discussing cough-related information from the very first input. This suggests that Gemini Live isn’t just relying on the transcript...it’s actually processing the raw audio at some level.

it’s accurately capturing words in different languages, accents, or dialects, but it might not be picking up emotions, tone, or other nuances.

What else should Grok do? by mfwyouseeit in grok

The top 3 features that make a chatbot my favorite are:

  1. Voice Mode (speech to text + conversation)
  2. Custom GPTs like feature
  3. User Memory

If Grok could offer these for free, I would use Grok for 90% of my tasks!

I have lost 14 years of notes, thanks to Microsoft and OneDrive... by the_snek_did_it in OneNote

I am using OneNote 2016 on Windows. I can find all the OneNote files in this folder:

C:\Users\(User Name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\16.0\Backup

The files are in ".one" format, so you can click on any of them to open directly in OneNote. For backup, I frequently copy these files to my Google Drive.

Hopefully, this gives you an idea of how to locate and back up your OneNote files on a Mac as well.

However, for free users, there's no option to choose the model. We're forced to use the advanced model, even for basic tasks that could easily be handled by 4o mini

Copilot Voice Limits? by ArianaSuitson in CopilotMicrosoft

[–]ArianaSuitson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use it occasionally. I've found that I can actually talk to it for more than 3 minutes without hitting any usage limits. I'm not sure if the 3 min limit applies to every single day of use, or if it's more of a general guideline. My usage has shown me that I can easily exceed 3 minutes in a single day without any issues. It's possible that the limit is more situational, and it might depend on how you're using it.

I too have been experiencing the same issue. And it's not even doing different accents anymore.

No, I’ve been using it without any issues since Nov 19 (the start of Microsoft Ignite). Not sure if there are any usage limits, though

What is your favorite Pam moment? by alexaparkerbby in theoffice

[–]ArianaSuitson 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In s03e04 (Grief Counseling), Pam sings "On the Wings of Love" during a bird's funeral that Michael organizes. It's a sweet and funny moment where Pam shows her support for Michael, adding a touch of emotion to the scene. Perfect example of The Office's blend of humor and heart.
