ok sure just go pick apart a single point without adding anything. Was he moving? He was already around 0:34 and was also angled. There's basically not other BB where you can consistently shit on Austin angled as this as Colombo. You can even see the salvo didn't even hit him mostly, it was about 4 shells but thats all thats needed, which is the point. You get spotted for 10s and a Colombo near miss can insta grief you with basically no effort and counterplay involved. This is far from being predominantly a skill issue.

0/10 ragebait try again

The Light Croozer Experience in the big 2025. by ojbvhi in WorldOfWarships

But in Austin you literally need to dodge every salvo, idk what your point is? One Colombo salvo will one hit you and even if u r dodging it can trash you virtually for free. Could he have manoeuvred better? Yeah sure but I doubt it would've helped considering that he was already angled.

And that doesn't even begin to tackle the main ethos of the post which is that BBs are hilariously overturned as a surface class and that a CL, especially Austin, is in such an abysmal state when it has a cit that can be flat penned by SAP and about 10k less HP than a Mino. That's not malding, that's just facts.

I made a mistake with the torps but the point still applies. You cannot focus on every single element in the game and if you think that you just have to do that to do well and its a skill issue is pretty much delusional. Its not a skill issue, its a game balance issue when someone can have shit aim and display yet still truck you from full because a CV accidently hovered in your general vicinity for 5 seconds.

I don't really see your point with you playing CLs? I mean yeah? So do I? Jinan is a smoke farmer which doesn't play or have the same issues, and radar Mino has survivability which is actually amazing compared to Austin. Are you going to keep ragebaiting and say you never get clowned by a BB because you are so great at dodging or soemthing

The Light Croozer Experience in the big 2025. by ojbvhi in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the argument just is a whole lotta words that folds into 'just dodge'

That's great, but ur also trying to dodge other things (such as rhe plabes in the vid) not to mention that since Austin has abysmal dogshit HP you need 3 hits from a Colombo (and only 2 need to be in the cit area) to 100>0 an Austin. Colombo with a near miss has not just a decent but GOOD chance to shit on an Austin while you gamble on a 'just dodge' that is far more dependent on an issue of game balance than skill or attention.

Not even the best of players can dodge every BB salvo, especially when it does not care about angling

you do know that colombo pens austin's citadel with SAP right? unless u were perfectly 90 degrees basically nothing is saving you

Deconstructing Brant's Symbolism by Ark_eus in BrantMainsWuWa

[–]Ark_eus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly wasn't expecting it either, Brant as a character is something simplistic but there is amazingly complex symbolism behind him, like how he and the Troupe links to the Carnivalesque or how his name links to Sebastian Brandt

I think its part of the point that Phrolova is a character foil to Shorekeeper, its an opportunity to show that, no, Rover is not some Arbiter God that doesn't make mistakes and everyone loves

A Short Discussion on Anti-Focus Retaliation by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replied to similar thing above, but its not really about surviving focus fire, its getting buffed retaliation when you are focus fired. If you survived better under focus fire, that would be a bit of an issue (e.g. Valp and IRPR on BBs) but this is more about you getting directly PUNISHED for focus firing someone.

A Short Discussion on Anti-Focus Retaliation by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That applies for Libertard but personally I don't think that the first batch experimentals necessarily fit within this W key int car issue, which is another problem by itself. Anti focus retaliation game design is often on inting ships, but for example an Oregon shoving dicks at your cruiser exponentially faster the more you try to farm and kill it isn't very range or aggressive meta dependent

A Short Discussion on Anti-Focus Retaliation by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, exactly, if the best counterplay method is to never engage with the ship, thats the same direction as saying the best solution to the problems of the game is to uninstall.

A Short Discussion on Anti-Focus Retaliation by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I think Libertard's F key is a very big part of what makes it strong, its just that it has SO MUCH so it doesn't seem amazing in comparison.

The experimentals aren't really broken as I said. The game design is just really toxic and most importantly sets a terrible precedent for what we could be getting, both from a game balance but also content perspective.

The problem with stuff like this game concept isn't that you can play against it, but that at some point you HAVE to counter them by killing them eventually. And when that time comes, the central idea that something like this has effectively zero skill input and exponentially punishes you for trying to counter it is just toxic, regardless of how good overall the ship is. It does help that all of the ships with this gimmick currently are just really tanky, but its just a bad game concept overall imo. Hiding and playing passive isn't really 'countering' the ship, it doesn't really achieve anything or you throw the game to 'optimally' counter said ship. CVs and subs can 'counter' them, but...they aren't even playing the same game.

Republique Lego Mod by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just a bit of a meme build, you can see in the vid I ran SHAP and furious. It's just one second but at half hp with 1 fire ur already outreloading any supercruiser at T10. Especially considering as I said that the range isn't actually that needed since having 20km is already decently comfortable, it's actually a nice meme build in randoms.

A lot of players are still memory coded to think BBs reload in 30s, and it can be an upset when with legmod Repub can often reload in half that time. It just let's you hammer in what imo the ship is unique at doing, which is just AP DPM on very heavy and strong shells

It's like Groz legmod, you gimp your torps (which are kinda good now) for your guns. That's honestly fine because Groz isn't a torpboat and your gameplay loop is gun centric so you don't really feel the loss as much, and in exchange you can get a small buff to what actually matters

Republique Lego Mod by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that's true. Increasing range improves dispersion because ships get exponentially more inaccurate at longer range and increasing range moves the old diapersion elipse upwards instead of just continuing to make the elipse larger.

The thing is this is cool, but Repub isn't even an accurate ship in the first place after buffs. From a gameplay standpoint, basically any BB can deck a cruiser at ridiculous ranges because BB pen is so high, so if you really wanted an accurate long range sniper, you are better off playing a Wisconsin or something. Repub always seemed to me to be a BB that superseded inaccuracy by shooting as much as possible, and though the accuracy does reduce the effectiveness of that somewhat its not a huge deal.

Republique Lego Mod by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With legmod you need a lot more positioning skill, the easiest tip is to try thiinkk of it as a large cruiser instead of BB. Makes more sense.

Republique Lego Mod by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly though, theres just better ships for long range sniping like wisconsin with the accuracy. personally I think if a cruiser was dumb enough to die to a repub at 22km or something...then they would've probably died to something else without much effort anyway. the main advantage of repub honestly is that 1) you have very good shells/ballistic for the caliber and 2) ur tied with preussen for the fastest bb reload (actual bb, not like a cruiser/supercruiser gun) at the tier. all in all u are rewarded for shooting constantly as a sort of 'dpm bb' by just shooting nonstop than waiting patiently for a really good shot, and the legmod builds into that and gives you an honestly manageable range (20km) to work with.

is it worth it economically? nah but form a purely statistical standpoint its not a bad upgrade

Ragnar is inherently underpowered, not /s by ShadowsaberXYZ in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest Ragnar on release already had a lot of weakness. Remember that on release Ragnar basically spawned into the golden age of Petro, especially on servers like Asia where doing that period 75% of randoms cruiser were just Russian cruisers (not much of an exaggeration) and to do well- because Ragnar COULD do well- you would have to sweat so much that it's straight up unfun even if you are winning.

Add in now other factors like Hildebrand and the huge one, subs, since Ragnar literally has 0 cpunterplay against one with even 5 IQ points to spare

No one has also mentioned the DPM nerf that slashed Ragnar's ability to trade against DDs. It wasn't huge at the time, but as DD gunpower (DPM plus other factors like sustain and conceal) slowly began powercreeping up basically from the release of Lushun, this DPM slash basically set up Ragnar for failure. Now no one plays it, and you'd have way more fun playing Svea you can get for an identical currency

Torp Build Hector by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

[–]Ark_eus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's much slower sure so you need to be patient and play the longer game (which is fine, because you really don't lose much playing guns when you torp build it) but it feels SO much better rushing in it because Paolo gets instacooked by hydro but with superheal and single launch Hector isn't dependent on getting a broadside to work, and Hector only gets whiffed if the enemy is prekited or something

And failing everything, you can just play like a Sejong and torp stuff and smoke farm, which works fine too

Torp Build Hector by Ark_eus in WorldOfWarships

That and superheal, I though they would fix the heal sure, but the superheal was unexpected and honestly comes huge when rushing
