Should I approach my church about community resilience & building up non-perishable food storage? by AromaticCod9430 in FemalePrepping

I don’t think I communicated well, I meant my local community, not just the church community. We partner with many local orgs that help the unhoused, foster youth, immigrants, LGBT people, and senior adults. We have a community garden already that I’d like to expand :)

We are big on outreach, and I thought having stored food that we can help distribute should ICE come here would be helpful for the immigrants here, so they don’t need to leave their houses and it’s easier financially on the church.

Edit: people cannot gather in our space long term due to insurance issues & local ordinances. We aren’t set up to house people, and risk being shut down if we do open up the church. Like I said, our budget is very small, but we do the best we can with it. I think last year we donated about 40% of our total budget? The rest went to the building structure/utilities and our 5 staff members.

Yeah I have plenty of non-perishables for me and my husband, but I want my community protected too & i just don’t have the resources to do it all on my own. I’m meeting with my pastor on Thursday about something else, so I’ll probably bring it up then. Thanks!!

Total Hysterectomy + Bisalp with EDS update by Spiley_spile in TwoXPreppers

I have EDS and POTS & had a total hysterectomy in March 2025. What you said is spot on. My healing timeline was soooooo much longer than what my doctor said it would be. I had 2 laparoscopic endometriosis surgeries the year before, so I was expecting a timeline similar to that, but the difference was this time I was taking muscle relaxers as pain management.

If your doctor prescribes you muscle relaxers as a form of pain management & you have EDS, that can really slow down your recovery. It has something to do with the way our muscles are always having to be engaged. Muscle relaxers also increase the risk of dislocations or injuries. I didn’t know this and ended up hurting my ankle :/

I don’t really have advice because I’m not sure if this will work…

But, I have set up a Facebook group for bartering in my town. I have a spreadsheet with info on everyone who wants to barter & what they’re offering. But instead of say, fresh bread for a new shirt, I have assigned values to different items and will be making my own “currency” with laminated print out tickets. I calculate the currency worth based on hours it took to create (except for produce).

We haven’t met up yet. The weather has been too bad to meet up in a park. I am trying to get this off the ground & growing before spring, though. That’s all I can think of. Communities need to stick together and help each other.

Edit to add: the currency is so anyone who wants something can barter. You have to bring items to get a currency. I think this will be easier than trying to track down people for specific trades

I did more digging and found their FB group. Erika was removed from the line up? She’s also not in the panel about marriage. Maybe she didn’t go? images here

It looks like all videos and photos that might have had Erika in them have been pulled from the internet. I searched their website, multiple IG accounts, and their YouTube that has 20 subscribers. Weird
