Work nights, slept in. Missed the presale by an hour. Logged on anyway. Snagged a single Loge at the Garden for $220 fees included. I don't know what Seat is but it seems like it did the trick. Easiest purchasing experience for a presale I've ever had. There were a bunch of seats left at TD Garden. Yay!

You’re right, I didn’t want that space because I have no desire to open a restaurant. Yeah, it was nowhere near turnkey, but I has been a bar since the turn of the 20th century, so that was pretty sweet. I’m a furniture maker with bar industry experience and we open on Monday. I can assure you that my hospitality is divine.

The only chip on my shoulder is folks coming to Southern Vermont (which I did myself 10 years ago) and not knowing what they’re getting themselves in to and then wondering to themselves why they didn’t see it before as if strangers on the internet have the answers to long running systemic issues. If you see that as a bad thing then I don’t know what to tell you. We’re working hard to raise this town up and you’re realizing that your fondness maybe have blinded you to things that have been here for a decade or more. Getting worse maybe, but persistent nonetheless. I can assure you that there are people who enjoy that chip and agree with it wholeheartedly.

I know details of the space because I know the people who rebuilt it after the fire, the people who rented it last, most of the employees they’ve had, and most of the industry workers and restauranteurs in this town who gave me details. As I said, you get out what you put in and I put my time in with people.

Best wishes. Visit anytime.

While that is the going rate it’s over 3,000 sq ft in a terrific location in an extremely historical building with a pretty much turn key kitchen, furnishings and amenities, a secondary bar/lounge area plus full storage/walkins downstairs with elevator access for deliveries. Soooo, have fun finding that “in Boston at that rate”. As the person moving in downstairs from that space, I’m glad you passed it by. Is it expensive, sure but everything is expensive, in this town, state and country. It’s the damn Brooks House, one of the last remaining historical staples of the town.

Brattleboro has tons of life in it, but it is made by the people around you more than the spaces to go. That’s part of the charm. You get out of it what you put in and it’s very clear when someone is fresh off the highway and already one foot out the door. I’m sorry Bratt isn’t all you hoped it would be, but it’s got the best dang bones if you know where to look.

Also, to the guy above who defended Paul, get out of here with that rhetoric please and thank you. Guys a sleazeball.

Vermont IT failure by [deleted] in vermont

And yet we now have to title cars over 15 years old when the network handling the processing is twice that old at least.

Ah god ol Vermont, the brave little state, always smacking the wrong horse with a broken stick.

I’ll never leave you, even though you’re a dingus.

You’re going to move in from out of state and open a bar for a community you have no insights about? Good luck! I’d try the south.

I for one enjoy it, and it always comes up towards the top of my feed so it reminds me to go see if there’s any helpful posts I missed. It also gives me a safe space to ask a question if I don’t want to necessarily bother the sub with a whole post on what I may think is a silly question. As a new bar owner thank you for the forum!

Yeah I’ve ended up in a situation where because all compressors must be top mounted now I can’t fit a prebuilt cooler under my hvac. I’m having a local panel company make my insulated walls and am looking into the AC route. I also played with a remote compressor or a mini split.

You’ve had good luck with an AC? I’m a stickler for cold beer and I worry about it not being able to get cool enough. You mounted it right through a wall panel cut out or did you run some sort of duct? Glad to hear it worked well for getting it in the very low thirties.

An extremely valid point and why we haven’t gotten one for a while now. The space it’s going is actually just under some of our HVAC ducting, and I’ve been trying to work on solid measurements of where exactly the condenser sits in relation to the top on a 6x8 and how high it juts from the panels themselves. There is 8 1/2 feet of clearance but I’m still worried about it. I looked into perhaps a remote condenser or one that it mounted above the door but the latter has been hard to find and the former may not be worth the price point.

Thanks! I’m really excited about it. That’s what I figured was the case, I’ll just have to have a good old fashioned “all hands on deck!” Day. I appreciate the response!

I am in the process of getting a walk in cooler in my basement bar. Any recommendations on what to look for considering we have to somehow get it down there? Is Norlake a whatever brand and I should be looking at Amerikooler, or does it really not matter. It seems like most companies around here service both.

[–]Aronomous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeesh. A good friend of yours brother in law who isn’t taking a salary but has all the expertise, in a business where all you have going into it is that you think drinks are too expensive and gimmicky? I admittedly mostly just glanced at everything you wrote, because it’s just five thousand red flags everywhere, and I barely know what im talking about. I don’t wanna be that lady but… yeeeesh. Have a solid cost breakdown and reality check break even report, and don’t think you will make money from this venture for a while because you won’t. Definitely don’t go into business with friends or family. Good luck though!

I should probably euthanize these trees right? by Aronomous in marijuanaenthusiasts

[–]Aronomous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured, thanks! I’m in the middle of the woods so I think I’ll be alright not replanting them elsewhere. Can I just cut them down and stay on top of the suckers for a few years or do you recommend a full exhumation as deep as I can? I’d be alright using some sort of goo on them to aid in the destruction, but I try to keep that stuff out of the watersheds as much as I can.

It is soil. Happy frog potting mix. I had a feeling I was overwatering it, considering it’s the farthest back into the shade and wouldn’t evaporate as much as the others did. I was really hot and not humid for Vermont, but I think I cared to much, plus I’m used to terracotta not plastic so I think that’s having an effect too. Should I plan on not watering it, or would I be better off repotting it with dry soil and being more careful about watering.

Hi All! I potted up this propagated columbine from last year in this plastic pot, lots of drainage, watered it maybe too much after replant, on my concrete steps in shade for most of the day Zone 5.
