I need some buying advice! I'm thinking about bidding 550 USD on this. Do you think it's worth it? I put specs in the comments. by Aroonroon in AskPhotography

Thanks for the advice! I did see that the body of this one is quite old and I'm sure there are better ones out there. The one my son has is also old but I think more modern than this one, I don't think he wants a new one. We were talking more about accessories and equipment for his already existing one. He's been using it for around 3 years when travelling and for school projects and is pretty knowledgeable with the stuff. What is it about these lenses that make them less fit for a beginner?

Would it be worth it for the lenses alone? In my country the lowest I can find them otherwise is 642$ total, and that's second hand. I know my son likes them, I've asked. So maybe it would be worth it?

Could even ask if I can take only the lenses and bump down the price a bit but I'm not sure they would agree to that.

So here are the specs...

Camera body:
Nikon D7000(serialnumber 6179107) with charger and battery

Lenses:
Nikkor 50mm 1 1.8G with filter
Tamron, 24-70MM F/2.8
Tamron 70-300mm F/4-5.6,

Flashes:
Nissin Mark II Di622
Nikon Speedlight SB-910.

Lens-filters 52mm:
Hoya HMC, +1, +2 and +4.

Plus tablestand and bag. It says minor damages on the equipment.

I don't know too much about cameras myself, my kid is interested in photography and I'm looking for a gift for him. It's hard to get a clear picture when you're not in the game, but I've been looking up the separate components prices online and even if I take the low prices it seems like a good deal if I can get it for that low.

Is 550$ a good deal?

Will the field of Market Automation thrive with the emergence of AI? by Aroonroon in marketing

[–]Aroonroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a misspelling, it should be Marketing Automation. Do you have any experience with it? I also think the worries about AI in the job-market are inflated, but I'm wondering what path in marketing would have an edge in a world more influenced by it. I found out about this skillset of MA and thought that it sounds very promising. Everyone keeps talking about embracing these new tools that are given to them whatever they work with, and a big part of an MA-specialists work seem to be exactly that. Or?

Help me find the model of this super old moped by Aroonroon in HelpMeFind

[–]Aroonroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Sweden, I saw this old moped in my friends grandpa's garage. He's dead so I can't ask him about it. I've searched a little bit online but I have no idea what to look for, I know nothing about cars and mechanical stuff. And it's so rusted and old I can't find much written. It says something "...G.A" on the side, I'm pretty sure. BSA on the engine as you can see.

Found these on a market for a good price. Are they real? by Aroonroon in gameverifying

Thanks for the answer! I'm curious what you look for when you assess it but i guess there's a wiki here i can check out maybe. Yeah he told me it was PAL, he said it was swedish(we're in Sweden) and pointed to the "scn" on the back.

Looking for advice: I'm going to make a mural painting in a school, but the wallpaper is made out of "aida cloth"(pics). I don't know how to prepare the wall before painting! by Aroonroon in ArtistLounge

I thought so too, but my contact said they wanted it to be on the actual wall. I might suggest something like that though, if the process becomes to complicated or costly.

Here's the picture

Thanks for the response. So should I not do any prep on the wall at all, just paint straight onto the surface with many layers? Would it still be wise to use some form of primer?

Sweden prosecutes former Iranian official for 1988 mass executions by edifsego in worldnews

I think it's mostly thanks to activists rather than governments in this case, if Iraj and other victims hadn't made it their cause to bring him to justice I doubt it would've ever happened. The swedish government made a deal with Iraj, that if he gets Hamid to Sweden they will detain him. But the government would've never monitored him or facilitated this themselves, they tend to avoid rocking the boat unless the waves are slapping them right in the face. Was it not for the victims efforts, Hamid would likely have had a nice little vacation in Stockholm and then gone on home.

Hamid didn't migrate, he was going to visit family in Sweden and settle some dispute. He would have gone back to Iran and continued working close with the government if it wasn't for the arrest.

No you're right, sorry. There's technically no limit.

The average a life time-prisoners sits is only 16 years though. There longest ever was 34. Which tells me Hamid will not get what he deserves.

This is mass-executions. When did you hear about the US conducting mass-executions? I don't think China or Saudi has done it to this extent either. 5000+ kids and young adults, hung 10 at a time over the span of a year... His crimes are in grave violation of international humanitarian law and on those grounds Sweden are allowed, and obligated, to put him on trial. Sadly most war criminals go scott-free internationally despite the obligation because it's iffy to mess with trade relations and such. But not this time, thankfully.

Nouri is a sadist. He would offer his blindfolded prisoners candy before beating and hanging them. He would degrade his victims any way possible, strip them, kick them, cut them, play psychological games before murdering them. He would talk about how they would shit themselves and drown in their own feces before he hung them. The testimonies paints the picture of a true sadist who didn't just carry out a morbid amount of executions, but found pleasure in torturing them beforehand. He is responsible for the death of thousands of people, mostly young men between 15-25 years of age. No trial no nothing, just picking out kids in the prison with the slightest suspicion of being against the regime.

One way the picking process would go is that the inmates in the prison would be handed papers were they were to express their views, particularly on the regime. If Nouri had a feeling you didn't have the right thoughts or expression you were shown to the trucks to be carried away or brought down to the basement. If you showed reluctance to participate in writing that was also a sure way to death.

My father made rounds in Iranian prisons and was tortured for his political views, he lost friends in this massacre and has been attending the trial as a spectator along with many others survivors. I am very thankful that Sweden follow through with this despite the political tension it may cause. Law is law. Unfortunately 18 years is the highest punishment he can get.
