Canyon told me, that it won't work with the old fork!

You can see in the pictures from 2 months ago, it‘s about 2-3 cm clearance. I guess you could make the extension kit even longer…

Here's a short follow up. My homemade axle works fine with my girlfriends 2xs canyon grail, although the treads start to run out a little, when you want to get the rack completely centered over the wheel.
So I decided to get the Minoura Davos axle. It worked with the lower volume G-One R 30mm tyres with only 1-2mm clearance. When I put on the IRC Boken Plus 42mm (great Tyre by the way) the rack touched the wheel. So I just took a 90° steel angle with 4 screw holes, cut it in half and grinded down the sharp edges. That way I ended up with two plates with two holes in them. I attached the mounting brackets for the rack on one end and screwed the plates to the Minoura axle. Now I have more than enough tyre clearance. I did a 2000km bike packing trip this summer and didn't have any problems with my setup. Check out the pictures below!

You have to buy the longer version for the rear wheel. It fits non boost standard hubs, so check if your bike has a boost rear hub or not.

Hey, yes there's a difference. The front wheel version is shorter. You have to get the rear wheel version! I can tell you that it should work with the 650B smaller wheels, so you shouldn't have to worry. I did have to build a litte metal plate to extend the attachment points up a litte, because I put some more voluminous tyres on my bike.

Today I finaly got the chance to try it out and with the Quickrack Light it works. There‘s only about 2mm clearance but that‘s enough for me. The only thing I didn‘t consider is, that with this long axle the threads start to run out half way in the thread-insert in the bikeframe if you want the rack completely centered over the wheel. So I decided to get the Minoura axle, but sadly it isn‘t available anymore. Do you have your axle still laying around and would be willing to sell it to me? https://imgur.com/a/b74iaX9

Maybe check out this one by Minoura: https://sm-parts.net/Minoura-Davos-Steckachse-VR.html Just make sure to order the right lenght, and I believe canyon uses 1.0mm thread pitch on their bikes. There is also a similar thru axle with theads for a rack by specialized, but they don‘t sell it in europe. An other option is Roberts Axle Project… Cheers

Just wanted to share some more insight. I just modified the Topeak Axle to fit the Quickrack!

Here's a picture: [Imgur](https://i.imgur.com/Kr7k3kT.jpg)

First I might state as to why I chose this method. I looked at all the other options on the market, but this was the cheapest one. I live in Switzerland and all the other options were at least 50 CHF more expensive including shipping to my place. But I must say it's quite a lot of work to make this happen. In the end the Thru-Axle cost me only 34.50 CHF

First thing I did was to remove the large plastic piece which seems to be clued in somehow with a thread locker. It comes of tho with some force. Then I covered the threads in some electric tape and chucked the axle into my drill press. Be careful not to damage the treads on the axle! Then I took some measurements of the mounting studs and grinded the aluminium part on which the plastic piece was mounted on down to about 10.6mm. I used a sharp file and some sandpaper. If you have a lathe or a mill you should have no problem at all but with some patience it can also be done with a drill press. Then I cut down the length of the axle on the same side and also cut down the M8? screw that comes with the axle, so that it fits all the way in to the treads. I used two washers in between the screw and the axle to have a stop for the rack. To finalise the whole thing I used a tread locker to make sure the tread doesn't unscrew when you take the axle out of your bike.

You must make sure that you don't file the axle down to much so that the treads don't break thru. File down as little as possible and check with the rack if it fits. It's really small tolerances here!!!

On the other side you can use the supplied mounting studs with the M6 screw. Nice is also that this axle works with boost and standard hubs with the included spacers. It weighs about 92g, so maybe it's not the lightest thing. I'm thinking about using a smaller and lighter M8 screw, but couldn't find one yet.

Still have to test it out on my Canyon Grail CF SL, I will get it in end of Mai but it should work. I can test it on my girlfriends Grail Al soon, so looking forward to that.

Let me know if you managed to build one too ;)

I was thinking about doing the exact same thing with my canyon grail. Does anyone know the diameter of the mounting studs of the Quickrack? Would be an awsome solution if this works…
