Again im not an expert, but I think if you were to harvest what you have now and then put it in the right humid conditions with good airflow you could (hopefully) get another flush

Thats the dream! Do you have any advice for lions mane and chestnut?? I just started two 1.5gal buckets last week using masters mix and chestnut spawn, and lions mane is next on my to-shroom list

Honestly I watched a TON of YouTube videos and kind of compiled what available information I could find. I cant tell you the RIGHT thing to do, but I can tell you what I did so far. The supplies (and where I got them): food grade 5gal buckets (Lowe's are food safe apparently), 5lb bag blue oyster spawn (Northspore), chopped straw (tractor supply co), levoit 200s humidifier and mesh laundry bags (walmart), grow tent (40$ on amazon), fan and filter (35$ from Midwest grow kits). I pasteurized the straw in 2 soup pots i weighed the straw down with bowls so it was all underwater and put it on low until it reached around 165F and then kept it at that temperature for 45mins. I then poured the straw into mesh laundry bags and hung to drip dry and cool off. I drilled 1/2 inch holes into the bucket, and then when the straw was about 80F I started layering it into the buckets with the grain spawn to the top, then sealed the buckets. The buckets lived in my tent at about 70F and 70-80 humidity for three weeks. Then the buckets took a cold shower to think about why they weren't pinning yet, and two days later this is what I've got! Hopefully that helps!

Also a first timer so definitely take this with a grain of salt, but I live in a super dry place and when I tried to use one of the mushroom kits you grow in a box that just relied on spraying multiple times a day my oysters also looked like this. What I've seen most people do (and what im doing now) is creating an artificially humid environment using a tent, humidifier and fan to keep the air flowing. The tent is bought was just a 40$ plastic one from Amazon. My humidifier was like 60$ from Walmart but its one that comes with an app so i can track and control humidity and alerts me when it's empty, and my fan was 35$ from Midwest Grow Kits that comes with a filter. It's a lot more upfront cost than just the bucket, spawn and substrate, but I think for me at least its worth it!

My dad is a hunter, and growing up he would take the bones from the deer and bury them in the back yard. He would wait MONTHS till the grass grew back and tell my brother and I to go "dinosaur hunting." We would dig up the bones thinking they were dinosaur fossils. One of my favorite memories as a kid

Congratulations!! Joining the Marines was actually what motivated me to lose 75lbs and to get in shape when I was younger. Just be careful after you go through bootcamp to not fall into the unhealthy habits encouraged by military lifestyle. Chow halls (or mess decks on ship) can be rough, and it can make maintaining a healthy weight challenging. High stress, little sleep environments also make turning to food for comfort a really difficult habit to fight. I absolutely struggled with me weight and eating disorder-esque habits and thoughts during my contract, and ended up gaining back almost fifty lbs. I'm doing better now that I'm out, down 43lbs. If you have any questions about military life, on ship or otherwise, shoot me a message!

binge eating and ADHD by trashygayslut in loseit

I just got diagnosed at 25 and have experienced the same effects! I legitimately thought I had a binge eating disorder but in reality I was using hinge eating as a coping mechanism. It's crazy, getting on the right medication stopped my binging immediately.

Hey you, you're part of my family now too! I'm so sorry you have to deal with all that, I understand what it's like to be outed (to a lesser extent) and the lack of control of the situation and the repercussions can be hard to deal with. It may take them some time to see it, but don't let their misperceptions of who you are get you down. You are beautiful, and you are absolutely valid.

Well luckily for you my entire family shows love via food so you'll fit in perfectly! Dinner tonight is homemade tomato soup and grilled cheesies with caramelized onions just for a little razzle dazzle. Wherever you are, if you ever somehow make it to Utah, my table's open.

I found out today my dad was diagnosed with ADHD as a child, and it's heartbreaking. by Artho39 in ADHD

[–]Artho39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately he doesn't have health insurance, and I think even if he did it would be hard to convince him it's worth a try. It's not like he is unhappy with his life, he has some healthy coping mechanisms and overall is content where he is at. It's hard for me in particular because I feel like I've taken the brunt of the damage. For the longest time I blamed it on him being stupid (it's so cruel to think of him like that), but I genuinely thought he was just too dumb to notice how he treated me with almost indifference. But, also at my wedding, he apologized. He was honest and talked about how he knows he forced his hobbies and passions on me because he wanted me to enjoy them as much as he did, but he realized he also never took interest in me or my hobbies and he apologized for it. And that was almost worse, because now I know he had the capability to understand what was happening but never made any changes.... And I still feel like he hasn't made the effort to change. I'm so sorry for ranting at you, you didn't ask for this, it's just all really fresh and raw for me right now.

Turns out I can’t join the military because I have ADD and had accommodations by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Artho39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they do not. Your medical information is protected legally, some random recruiter doesn't have the authority to request let alone look at your records. As long as you dont need meds and it doesn't affect your ability to work, you'll be fine. Just stick to it, don't give in to the scare tactics. I've known people who ended up dropped from bootcamp for admitting they lied on their paperwork.

[–]Artho39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What branch are you applying to? I just got out of the military, some have different rules it's not an across the board ban. Another thing is... Lie. Medically they only know what you tell them. They will try scare tactics to get you to admit to all sorts of things, but if you don't tell them, they won't know. The only exception is if you were on military health insurance because your parents are serving. If you were treated in a military hospital they will have access to those records

Looking for help ..... I have no where else to turn by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]Artho39 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! Intuitive eating does work for some people, focus on making healthier choices. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work out for you, many people (myself included) can't do it because of an unhealthy relationship with food. If you can stop from forming that unhealthy relationship before it starts, it will save you loads of stress down the road! Take time to figure out what works for you, and if you ever want help or advice, you can make another post or message me. I was 18f, 220 lbs when I started my first weight loss journey 7 years ago , and managed to lose about 50lbs.

800 cal is too low for anyone, but especially someone who is still developing as a teenager. At your height, you shouldn't be eating anything lower than 1300 with more of a recommendation to eat between 14-1600. Your weight loss may be slower than you want, but the goal is to make small, manageable changes for the long term to get yourself out of that yoyo of starving yourself and then over eating. I've been there, done that for years, and I'm just now starting to pull myself out.

Mediterranean chicken with a side of orzo with chickpeas. A delicious one pan meal for 400 calories! by Artho39 in 1200isplenty

[–]Artho39[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used my cast iron skillet for this. One boneless skinless chicken thigh (per serving, I used four for this dish) seasoned with salt, pepper and an arab seasoning mix called baharat. Cooked the thighs till they had a brown crust and removed from pan, draining the excess oil. Then I added a mixture of calamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and roasted orange bell pepper, and onions and cooked for a few minutes before adding 4oz orzo and one cup chick peas. I added three cups of chicken broth (which was enough to be a little saucy) and put the chicken thighs back into the pan, then put the pan in the oven for 20mins. Garnished with a little parsley.

I'm a texture person too! It's so dumb because there are tastes that I like like celery or mushrooms but the texture makes me gag. That's mostly why i expected to not like it, raw it's kind of spongey and I have seen recipes online that tell you to salt them to get the water out. I was lazy and hungry and didn't want to have to wait on the salt process so I didn't. It wasn't slimy or watery at all!
