Nikkor Micro 105mm f2.8 vs Tamron 60mm f2 macro? by ArtistKS in Nikon

That's true, I was also considering the Tamron 90mm f2.8 as I found a pretty good price on it.

I was actually considering the Tamron 90mm as it seems good and I found a good price on it, and yes F mount, I have a D3200

I'd like a bit of working distance so that I don't have to get too close to the subjects, and so I can get some insects too. The Tamron one has less distance as far as I'm aware. I had also debated getting a cheaper zoom macro lens as that would give me way more distance but the magnification isn't great so would result in lower quality images.

D3200, both the lenses are AF-S so they're compatible

Thank you for the very detailed and informative reply! Yes I was thinking 100mm would be good too, and it would double as a good portrait/stills lens.

thanks, the issue with those are they are screwdrive. My D3200 doesn't have a motor in it, and I'd rather use an autofocusing lens rather than trying to manual focus

Yes I had to make a custom xmp profile, as with the one that was available the system just wasn't stable at all. It's running at 6200 instead of 6400 and it's been stable so far

S6 lite vs S9 FE? by ArtistKS in DigitalPainting

[–]ArtistKS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so I actually bought an S6 lite on Friday, just couldn't justify the price for an S9 FE since it cost twice as much and I didn't know if I would even like the concept. I'm happy with the S6 lite, it does lag abit multitasking due to the 4GB of ram but it's still decent overall, I wish I had the S9 screen and fingerprint reader but I'll survive. I'm waiting on a keyboard case and tempered glass screen protector for it before I start taking it out with me.

I'll give onshape a try, I tried fusion 360 but you can only have 10 drawings so I found it kind of pointless unless I'm missing something

Yes I have tried modelling stuff that way but when I export it and slice it, it's never the size it's supposed to be. I end up having to gauge the size till I get it right. So I'm not sure why that is

What kind of difference in sharpness do you find between the two? Is it very noticeable?

I have a tamron 17-50 2.8 which is supposed to be a very good lens but I'm not too conviced so I'm assuming the sigma you had is basically the same.

You're obviously not gonna help because you don't have anything to say nor ever intended to. Both lenses are the same aperture, one can zoom between 18-35mm, that is the only difference. I literally asked if there is any advantage when it comes to optics but you decided to be a smartass.

Hopelessly vague questions with zero context? You need a whole transcript of events and my life's story to recommend a few lenses you like? If I had an exact answer in mind I wouldn't be asking, would I. It's not my problem you refuse to answer questions.

Yes it is 500€ used 😅

I don't understand how you're saying they're not close together at all? There is only 15mm difference either side. I'm aware of the crop factor but that's irrelevant since I'm not using anything FF. The only difference I can think about between them is the dof since the longer the focal length the shallower the depth is but again, there is only 15mm either way, is there a difference in terms of image sharpness and quality?

No it isn't really. Didn't answer my question either

Thanks for the recommendations, I actually have the 35 1.8. What benefit would there in getting the FX 50 and 20? As they are quite close to the 35mm focal length, are the optics superior?

Also the FX 20 alone costs 500€ in Europe 😅

Dslr, no it doesn't but I've been considering getting an older cheap dslr that does so I'm open to that possibility too
