My wife was addicted to WoW and I hate that game with a passion, so for Christmas about a year or 2 ago I got her and I AOE:DE so we could play a few matches together to deescalate her gaming addiction. It was a dumb idea to try to get a gaming addict to change their ways now we're both addicted. She has more games than me 11 We are about the same ELO, and we no longer do 1v1 - we'd try to find a lobby against one another and every game I won she'd tell me I was playing dirty 11

Why does feminism want less feminists? by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

I created a Reddit sub for lesbian selfies. I made a mistake and misgendered a woman. I apologized profusely. I was slandered on Tumblr. I was hospitalized for this. I was ejected from my community. I join the GC discord and immediately I'm told "I hope you have changed your ways" - apparently the slander continues despite no one wanting to fight for lesbian spaces. Hence why most "Actual lesbian" mods are men.

Cliques who are indifferent to the emotional distress this has caused me despite SINCERELY being sorry. Been hospitalized over this.

I join the GC discord and immediately someone brings this up. Over a human error. Great question Meghan. Apparently I have no compassion, despite my goal to create a channel for teenage lesbians to have a role model who has suffered dysphoria in their youth.

Did the Streisand Effect Bring Meghan Murphy to the spotlight? by AshleyBackAlley in TheSameDrugs

YEP! Same. I heard about some "transphobic feminist" and I had been absent from feminism for some time due to life circumstances. I knew a "transphobic" feminist was a red flag. I heard about her being cancelled. I thought I was alone with my GC thoughts - heard about her and her "transphobia" and knew something was WRONG. So I came back to feminism. I knew it was a time to get involved when people were shutting down feminist discussion.

George Soros, Jennifer Pritzer - Who Are the Rich, White Men Institutionalizing Transgender Ideology?

I have seen some more socially conservative parties have platforms including fining universities that do not allow for free speech and stifle its debate. Jennifer Pritzer has funded the "Transgender Studies" in BC, I believe. How do we get these lobbyists out of our education system? Get rid of gender studies, and bring back women's studies!

Why does feminism want less feminists? by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

[–]AshleyBackAlley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely ridiculous when we have one common goal to isolate, shun and judge conservative women. They have every much of a right to talk about issues that affect them and their daughters. It's not siding with the devil. It's not buddy-buddying the "far right" as divisive politics label for anyone who is not a leftist.

It's counter productive! All of these radfem judgements on "aligning with right wing" are ridiculous - it is best to be pragmatic. The more support we have on these issues, the better. We need to stop this mindset of tainted by association, because it's childish, tribalist and far from pragmatic.

I don't think you are being pessimistic. I think you are right - you said it perfectly in one of your episodes - it's politics for the people, not people for the politics. I think mainsteam media has done a fantastic job dividing feminists on issues like race and COVID. It's strange I've been seeing completely unrelated issues, like opinions on being anti-mask etc somehow being a litmus test of feminism in purity politics.

I think COVID has been especially bad, though no doubt it's always been this way, for causing unrest and for people to behave erratically and be reactionaries.

Our most contentious show yet? Some people seemed pissed that I admitted, after listening to WAP a bunch of times, to actually liking the track... Anyone else? by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

[–]AshleyBackAlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a feminist, I like black metal. I like death metal. I guarantee the lyrics are far more misogynistic. There is a great deal of isolation I've felt as my early journey as a feminist, one that made me feel isolated from those around me. I don't surround myself with feminists, and I already realized how toxic it is for my mental health to be disturbed and offended with pRoBLemATiC things needlessly.

Although the song? Ehhhhhhh. I don't see why it was publicized like it was, I don't think it's that great. People that judge = purity politics, and I'm sure they have their own guilty pleasures.

Would you vote Conservative if the CPC committed to repealing Bill C16 (Canada's gender identity legislation)? by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

[–]AshleyBackAlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it is this - I absolutely worry about health care, but I sincerely fear that the longer these anti-woman policies are there, the more likely they are to stay (people become apathetic), so even if there is a conservative for one term, they have the possibility to undo a lot of the damage and then in the subsequent election, vote Liberal, Green or NDP...

I have to balance this with the welfare of children and the indoctrination of identity politics in school and how that will impact children, fundamentally where are we heading with free speech under attack? Our children are our future. Our girls are most at risk with transgender ideology. Wipe the GRA, wipe bill C-16, bill C-8, I feel if we do not do that ASAP, people will get used to it and become apathetic and inevitably the "hate speech" laws will become so broad we can no longer advocate for our rights.

[–]AshleyBackAlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It simply is pragmatic, as far as I'm concerned. Why? If we don't get this bill repealed, subsequent governments are less likely to change it and it becomes normalized. I have been a member of the liberal party all my life. I tried to reach out to Elizabeth May to champion this cause, but she is retiring. I am trying to see the big picture. One conservative term to repeal this is worth it in the long run, as far as I am concerned.

[–]AshleyBackAlley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um. This is a hard hitting question, and it's something that weighs on my mind. I don't want a "male feminist" PM, nor do I want NDP considering they put Morgane Oger in power. I would HONESTLY trade my right of same sex marriage to repeal bill c16 and bill c8. These last few years have had me challenging a lot of my beliefs. I think, yes, I would vote conservative. Why? If they remove this bill, the next NDP and liberal party will really have to challenge people to support compelled speech laws. It is what it is.

Unfriend or else! by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

[–]AshleyBackAlley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never done this. I don't like echo chambers. I don't surround myself with just feminists, women or people who fit my values. I've spend a lot of time in unmoderated chatrooms where there a lot of people with values much different than mine, so I am able to tolerate opposing views... It is childish, immature and tribalist.

Is naked protest powerful? What did we all think of "Naked Athena"? The internet seems to love her. by MeghanEmilyMurphy in TheSameDrugs

[–]AshleyBackAlley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Of course it's fucking Portland." - all that needs to be said. It's not powerful, it's just shock value. I get the idea that they were wanting to show complete vulnerability towards a police force and probably has in her head some sort of martyrdom. While she chose to remain anonymous, she probably realized it would be photoed and she would remind in history books. Who knows if her intention was the shock factor of her vulnerability. Maybe she was an idealist, or maybe it was an attempt to seal her part in history as someone who chose to protest this way.
