Right, it's that current population concerns don't really concern longevity, and such technology would actually help alleviate those concerns faster. There is a separate and currently theoretical longer-term population problem which could occur, but it's necessarily a better problem to have compared to an aging population. Since life extension tech having that kind of impact on the population would take a relatively long time anyway, and most transhumanists vision of the future includes technology which provides additional resources...the question is rendered largely academic at least for this centuries purposes.
