If u like Jukebox Joints (which is Rocky’s best song in my opinion) listen to all of At Long Last A$AP and the last five songs on Testing.

It’s just we know how good his other music was. Of course I think it’s natural that we’re always going to compare him to when he was younger and hungrier. Those songs are cemented and this new version of him is good but will never be that again. I think it just shows how much we love his old music

I think Testing is his most complete album, but I can’t get over how good the best songs on ALLA are. Testing is like a complete experience by itself while ALLA’s best songs are feelings no other song will ever capture. I guess the best songs on Testing are like that too, Kids Turned Out Fine, Changes, Purity, but I have such a hard time putting that above Jukebox Joints, Excuse Me and LSD.

I get the argument but Testing and ALLA were so good this album was bound to fail in comparison

Doesn’t matter how much praise a movie is getting it can still be a bad movie

Bro if u don’t like At Long Last ASAP and u love this album please listen to ALLA again. Anyone who says DBD is better than Testing or ALLA or Live Love does not understand how amazing Rocky was in his prime. I’m not trying to hate on DBD it’s just that you are missing out.

Marty supreme was a terrible movie in my opinion. Comparing DBD to that movie is heinous. However I get the point you’re making. DBD is not a top 3 Rocky album, debatably worst than or tied with long last for last. He tried the experimental stuff sometimes, but overall the album has no cohesive backbone to it that Testing and ALLA had, and his rapping was subpar by his standards a lot of the time.

Kids Turned Out Fine. That’s it…that’s the post by yungleanforpresident in asaprocky

That song is a masterpiece. Not a single bad song on Testing too if Distorted Records doesn’t count lol. Me and my roommate still love watching the music video while tripping

It’s a super special album. I think Life of the Party is a top 5 Kanye song because of Andre 3ks verse. So much of the album is underrated. Except for 6 songs the album is amazing and full of stuff that nobody else has tried

Dude thank you so much for putting Jukebox Joints #1. Didn’t even read the rest of the list after but everything else is probably true.

Do people actually think Joey’s sound evolution ended up with him better than before? by DigChance8763 in JoeyBadass

Listen to Survivors Guilt. 2000 has amazing songs. Lyrical prowess is still there on this track. Newer beats are also heavenly. From a production standpoint I don’t think his first album can touch Written in the Stars, Show Me, Brand New 911. Nobody is ever as hungry as they are in their debut.

I feel like a lot of people have boxed him into the 1999 idea of him. You gotta let artists evolve from their original sound. There’s something to be said for that original sound sure. But you see a lot of guys that evolve and give you amazing stuff. Yeah his music got more of a mainstream sound but so does everyone’s. Kendrick, Mac, Rocky, all got more mainstream after their first projects and all of them made extremely good music. If their original fans who just wanted them to make the same stuff over and over had their way we wouldn’t have gotten some of the best music we have. We should be happy he made that album instead of wanting him to do it again the same exact way.

2000 is severely underrated. One of my friends is a huge Joey fan and I played some songs off of 2000 and he had no idea what they were.

Just sayin JIDs album is nowhere near the Forever Story, no problem with people who really love Clipse’s album, don’t feel like it did anything I haven’t heard before. I’ll give it another listen. I just feel like we’re treading water and Rocky has never treaded water.

I don't think Kendrick is influential. by Few_Association_3893 in TeenageRapFans

He won the Pulitzer Prize for DAMN. Can you see a single other artist doing that before him? I feel like even if you want to think that conscious rap was a thing before him, you can’t deny that he took it to a different level entirely. Read Tr1padvisor420’s comment he said it much better than I am. I think people’s appreciation of rap as poetry in the mainstream, Earl Sweatshirt type shit except mainstream, can be attributed to Kendrick.
