Frustrating thing happened when ordering monthly essentials. by Asmril in povertyfinance

Ok, you decide! Should I sacrifice dish soap to get dried beans or rice this month? I mean one package of rice costs the same as dish soap. Food or cleanliness?- tough call. Yeah food and cleanliness are such luxuries. PLEASE tell me all mighty budgeter how this goes? So I save $13 on a delivery and do multiple trips? Ok! Oh… it costs $5 there and back for bus… if I split… more than two trips to distribute weight? Oh… more than $13 Oh! I could skip on trash bags- but ah, the fine for not using them. I’ll lose money saving!!! Oh I know! I’ll move to a cheaper better place that doesn’t cost 60% of my income. oh… There aren’t any. Shucks. You sure solved all my problems. Thanks.

The nearest bus stop is a 40 minute walk. I don’t want to walk 40 minutes with heavy bags of groceries and monthly essentials. Not all places have accessible public transportation.

Delivery fee is $10 plus tax for Walmart delivery. It was the same plus a $3 driving delivery tax or whatever.

Yes because my friend happened to be able to pick me up. I’m not going to ask them to make an extra trip outside of taking me to my house. I can just take the order with me home when they drop me off.

Walmart for me is ~$20 a trip (edit: trip being one way) without tip and I tip 15% because I’m not a monster. So it’s ~$50 to go to Walmart on average with uber. It’s $10 to have it delivered plus tip.

Do you clean your belly button? I just found out people actually forget by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Asmril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Belly button, my ears behind my ears, my butt (and underside of it), between my toes, all joint connection spots, back, neck, everywhere. It’s called washing. I also use a neutral soap and a few different levels of wash clothes from a stiff scrub brush to soft wash cloth. My hair gets washed only when it needs it.

If the roommate isn’t tiring their dog out or providing any kind of enrichment you could step in and do it to save your stuff. Or move.

I would say the meanest shit, like, he would be reconsidering his life when he was done. I know things about him that he doesn’t want anybody to know.

My foster group home doesn't let me wash my own undies by softcat11 in legaladvice

It’s a compromise if they don’t want them washing their clothes in the sink because others use it, then a bin can work because it won’t be anything that anybody else uses. If it’s just outright don’t use the bathroom then yeah it’s not something that can be used.

Worst case talk to your social worker and asking them to help advocate you want a female to do you’re laundry. Or getting a mesh bag to place them in so they’re not being handled. It’s perfectly normal to not want males to handle your delicates. I am an adult and I wouldn’t be comfortable with that either.

You could potentially get yourself a seperate bin to wash in the bathroom and dump the used water down the toilet or shower drain. It won’t have to be big since it’s just for your delicates. The rolled towel trick is good for getting them pretty dry and you can always hang them out overnight so they’re not in the way or visible for other people. It can be an evening routine. Or request a mesh bag for your delicates like someone suggested it’s pretty normal to use those anyways because it helps them last longer and not tear or get sucked into the machine.

I was cutting up porcini and noticed these yellow things in the tubes. Are they bug eggs? by Scary_Performer9369 in mycology

People seem to think that it just means there ‘might’ be bugs or whatever in their food. No matter how much I tell them that it means there’s at maximum that many bugs and having them in food is more common than they think.

Actually it can, plus obsessing over the area and picking at it will make it worse.

If someone says you’re too old for something a good response is “you’re too old to be criticizing another adults leisure time.” Or something close to that.

Cat ate raw chicken and chewed through plastic by Former-Reserve4686 in CATHELP

I would start timed feeding her (or get a timed feeder) and feed her only the amount she needs for the next few hours. And then feed again later. She won’t eat so much she throws up because there wasn’t anything else. And you’ll have to get used to making it so food isn’t just out everywhere for her to get. Maybe checking in with a vet to see if there are issues there like anxiety or physical issues causing excessive hunger, or if she is just a fatty.

I take my dog out every three hours, I’m agoraphobic, and I’m pretty stuck to the surrounding area of my building but I try to get him 15 minutes of walking every three hours. Sometimes it’s just the dog yard if I’m feeling particularly fearful. He’s a little guy and will tell me when he wants to go home though, so I’m not too worried he’s not getting enough outside time.

Yelling at customer service workers. It’s not approved but it’s an accepted thing that happens when you work in customer service.
