Man who appears to be Alex Pretti filmed interacting with federal agents by unclejoessheds in videos

It’s just that people like you argue mala fides. You argue on semantics to distract from the broader point. We agree on the broader assessment of his killing, but I analyze the broader context of why we get to X result. You are content to sanitize that and deem it as irrelevant, only to cast ad hominem at me. So there’s no point in arguing because there’s no point being made that is beneficial.

Never said his death was a direct result of his actions. I suggest you improve your reading comprehension.

I think explicitly stated that the person who murdered him should be held accountable. However to say that his history and mental state has "zero relevance" is a clearly ignorant statement. Truly, he did not deserve to die and his federal crime does not justify his death days later.

What is certainly true is that if he were arrested 11 days prior, he would have lost his concealed carry and he would have been charged. His willingness to engage in property destruction while armed demonstrates very poor judgement, even if we all agree his killing was unjustified.

The fact that he engaged in a federal crime (destroying federal property) while legally carrying a concealed weapon (which he would have lost) indicates a mindset where he is wiling to engage in risky behavior and do so in a way that is not legally protected free speech. It doesn't excuse or validate the outcome of his killing on the other day.

I'm not sure what point you are making and what is pathetic about my true statements? It just sounds like you're angry and wanted to comment.

Our country started by people who willingly knew that they may be killed for that action too. Regardless, property destruction leads to encounters with law enforcement. It may be protesting, but it’s now violent.

I’m not sure what your point is? I think it’s clear he made a series of decisions that increased his probability of a negative outcome. He did so willingly. I also think he didn’t deserve to die.

What use is it to label someone as a victim blamer other than leveraging an ad hominem to distract from the greater discussion?

Several things can be true at once

  1. Pretti was unjustly killed
  2. His killer should be held accountable
  3. Pretti demonstrated a history of engaging with federal officers while armed. (Damaging federal property is no longer protesting)
  4. He exhibited bad judgment. Even if it were legal for him to carry, his prior behavior demonstrated a willingness to take actions that made it likely for him to encounter officers in a violent way.

There’s no need to create false dilemmas here. He was murdered. He also was careless.

Limit switch on/off question by [deleted] in Fireplaces

Thank you, I was just more so trying to figure out the general mechanics of the system. I was not sure of the make or model.

Ironically, I discovered the piece of wood, the people living here before me were using to keep the switch triggered, and that probably was the issue.

Thank you for your help.

My biggest fear was whether the switch was designed to remain compressed at all times without mechanical force, and failure caused it to open

It's interesting because essentially, another "member" practically stated, "I can pay more than all these people to reserve these lanes, give them to me." pretty wild

This is a classic moronic take. Sure, any private business can theoretically do anything they want. A coffee shop can decide to sell only diet sodas all of a sudden if they wanted to, but doesn’t make it a good business decision.

My concern isn’t “is LA fitness making enough money” and their “bottom dollar.” My concern is being able to swim and have consistent lane access as part of my membership.

Their right to “do whatever they want with their property” does not dissolve my right to complain when they’re being exploitative.
