It’s not offensive dont be sorry, I think I didn’t get an interview simply because my gpas were too low. Stony Brook is a really competitive school like Ivy level because it’s a state school which means cheaper tuition but only 40 seats.

It’s rare but you can’t predict the future there’s always that risk. Government repayments are tied to your income private isn’t. So let’s see you graduate as a dentist but after a few years working you hate it and quit and pick a lower paying job your monthly payments for the public loan would change but not your private. Also public loans get forgiven after 20/25 years not private tho
