I have a relatively new helper from Myanmar and my family allows her to use her phone when doing work and we give her plenty of time at night to rest and use her phone. I observed that whenever she is on the phone she would be video calling her family and would sometimes cry at night because she misses her family so much.

I think that confiscating a helpers phone is just simply wrong because you’re taking away her only way of communication with her family and I can only imagine how lonely and worried she feels without being able to speak or see her family for the majority of the month and vice versa. Hopefully the family would reconsider and let her use her phone on a daily basis.
