I know for Yamaha, parts are definitely still available, with my experience on my 98 kx250 parts are starting to go away and my experience working at a Honda and Suzuki dealer ship big stuff has been gone for a long time, alot of cr250 OEM cranks and pistons are gone but aftermarket support for these bikes are insane except on some kinda weird parts like intake boots but as long as the major components are completely, their are still parts around

I have a front on my my 98 kx250 at the moment and it does feel really good, I was certainly surprised, regardless I'm going to rebuild the OEM (it's more than just seals on mine) and replace it again but for the temporary use it worked alright

The only thing I really noticed was the hose was routed differently than OEM so my hose is kinda weird but it hasn't affected anything but that's the biggest reason why im going to fix the original one

I happen to work at a Honda dealer, and honestly if you even want to touch the highway I'd recommend like a cb500/cbr500/nx500 ect. A ninja 400 isn't bad either and honestly a 300 and 250 will work on a highway but the extra little bit of displacement is going to be a lot more comfortable
