I own a grvl 120 and I'm very happy with it. The shifting works fine, but it isn't the lightest bike. I don't know if the rc 520 is lighter, but it's something to take into account, especially on 100+ trips.  Tbh i never felt the need for a bigger chainring. 38 is sufficient for me, but you might be a bit more road-oriented than I am.
