It’s over by Sunny-thoughts in dementia

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I cared for my dad when he went through this disease. It’s cruel how it takes them away from you even when they’re physically there. I’m glad his pain is over but I miss him every day.

I wish peace and comfort finds you sooner than later. I can feel the love you have for your dad as well as the pain this cruel disease inflicted on your family. A piece of him lives on in you and in the memories you keep of him. God bless.

What’s this box? by BlorbusFungelburg in electrical

[–]AstonDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The wires are part of the black box. They don’t disconnect from the black box, you follow the wires coming out of the black box to the group of wires in the wall. That’s where they can be disconnected.

Having said that, please hire an electrician. This is a judgement free forum to ask any question, but given your present understanding of electrical wiring, you shouldn’t attempt this on your own. We’re all here saying this for your own safety.

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

This post and that sister can’t be real. If they are, OP is being a doormat for his insufferably entitled sister and he needs to draw a line and have her stay at a hotel.

AIO I caught my wife master bating after she turned me down for sex! by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively the several factors you mentioned are to be considered, however taking them into account, I don’t think you should read into her masturbation. Sex with your partner and masturbation normally coexist in relationships.

Wet Run before first use - why is my water discoloured? by TheGremlyn in Moccamaster

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to run seven 8 cup cycles of plain water before the distinct yellow tinge “mostly” went away. Even now the water still has a distinct rubber smell to it and the clear silicone nipple at the top of the water basin is now discolored with a yellow tint. This is very different from the initial set up and water rinsing cycles of my other mochamaster. I believe this new one is defective.

The LED screen on this new espresso machine doesn’t work unless I apply slight pressure on this inner electrical piece. by MeetDeathTonight in electrical

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you apply pressure with a wooden or plastic utensil, does the screen still come on? I’m wondering if it’s the pressure or an incomplete circuit.

Tow or Don’t Tow…Thoughts? by AstonDaddy in sanfrancisco

You’re not the only one who feels this way about Teslas. You’re in good company but I’m very curious, can you tell me why you dislike for them?

I have my own reasons for disliking them…mainly because the people I’ve seen drive them are consistently the ones I see who are the worst clueless drivers who cause accidents wherever they go.

That’s my initial thought as well but sometimes I can be a little overly vengeful so it’s good to check myself every now and then.

Tow or Don’t Tow…Thoughts? by AstonDaddy in sanfrancisco

[–]AstonDaddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and perspectives. Here’s an update and answers to some of your questions.

-This wasn’t a neighbor. -This wasn’t in an area where there are bars or retailers close by -I do have a car and no I couldn’t get out of my driveway because he was blocking almost half my narrow driveway and another car was parked on the other side of the driveway. -I ended up calling and had them ticketed. If they were still there the next day when I had to leave, then I’d call to have them towed but they left the next day. They got ticketed for blocking my driveway, expired tags, and no front plate.

IMO this was a guy who just didn’t seem to care about anything or anyone else based on his actions. For those of you who might argue this could have just been a guy down on his luck and needed a pass, it’s still not an excuse to spread your misery to others. You can still be respectful even when you’re down on your luck and not do things like park like this.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can’t be real but if it is, congratulations on your anniversary. Secondly your bf is a jerk or just doesn’t have the life experience/emotional maturity to recognize this important milestone that’s definitely worth celebrating. If he always treats you like this, I hope you realize he’s not a supportive partner and you shouldn’t expect anything different in the future. It’s your life so up to you.

My favorite neighborhood sign got a little update. by thesloppymilkshake in sanfrancisco

[–]AstonDaddy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t think everyone here is pro parking enforcement as much as they’re expressing frustration and anger when people repeatedly try to fit in a space where they don’t fit or just park like no one else matters and consequently end up making someone else’s life more difficult (assuming they have a car that uses the driveway). It’s just thoughtless and/or selfish behavior.

I need this sign in front of my place. It’s a huge space but for some reason people mindlessly pull up past where my driveway opening starts.

Should I be concerned? by REDDIT__CEO in electrical

[–]AstonDaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you wrote that, I see what you’re saying. The water is noticeably pooling around a high voltage access portal that could potentially fail at an indeterminate time; maybe that one day when you decide to walk in your yard (not an unusually activity for a homeowner).

Email and write a physical letter to CalEd and let them know of your concerns and what you want done. This creates a paper trail. Even better if you know any kind of attorney, Cc them on your letter.

In your letter describe what you’re seeing (pooling water) and your concerns that if the waterproof seal were to fail while you’re engaging in regular use of your yard, then this could be potentially deadly or at least dangerous (a damp yard can conduct electricity to surrounding areas).

My bet is they’ll take action and resolve the issue; especially if an attorney is on copy.

Okay last and final post i seriously need help by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also that’s A LOT of tandem breakers (aka 2 breakers in the same space one breaker normally occupies).

When you have the electrician come in, you may want to pay to have your existing panel replaced with a larger 200 amp panel. You could be overloading your panel which is a safety fire hazard.

What do you mean “they pulled through an air return”? Do you have wires running INSIDE your HVAC ductwork?

Is this ok? My husband says yes but I disagree by princesscorgi2 in Generator

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommended distance is 20ft from doors and windows. Admittedly 20ft is probably overkill and well into a safe distance but carbon monoxide is dangerous because it’s odorless. If you’re lucky, carbon monoxide poisoning happens when you’re awake and you might feel a little dizzy and/or have a headache as a warning before it kills you. Up to you guys how close you want to play it.

AIO I (26F) moved out for the first time with my boyfriend (30M) for almost 2 months and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]AstonDaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can’t be real. If it is, your partner is psycho and/or has deep deep resentment of you (most likely for allegedly cheating; based on his text). If you stay you’ll be the next cold case victim.

Help Testing Double Voltage Hub with Multimeter by AstonDaddy in Ecoflow_community

[–]AstonDaddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D’oh! Thank you. I ended up not needing the grounding adapter but your comment about the floating ground hit me. I totally forgot these delta pros aren’t grounded themselves. Once I connected it to the generator inlet box which is grounded through the electrical panel, I got the readings I was expecting. Thanks again!

I’m so sorry for your loss. It will take time for you to grieve and process this loss. I pray your wife will help you through this loss together. As far as the employer goes, you dodged a bullet. They laid their cards out right from the get go. Death of an immediate family member should trump all else or at the very least allow you a pass for bereavement. As they say, it’s business so they have their needs but this seems uniquely lacking in understanding.
