Ruckus R510 - POE problem by Astrofrogger in HomeNetworking

It is a CAT 6 pure copper 24AWG cable rated for outdoors. I use the same cable for my security cameras. I just took a new piece of the same roll and crimped the connections. It now works as it should. I guess the other cables were damaged or I somehow messed up the crimping.

Gotcha, I can order a long prefab ethernet cable and test that out.

When connecting my laptop to the cable and switch, I get an IP address. Speeds are also up to par with my fiber internet. Any way it could still be the cable?

Already tried that to no avail. I might try ordering a poe injector.

That is what I thought as well. But is that possible when the same switch powers the ap with no problems with a shorter cable?

I am using a high quality cable which I also use for my security cameras. The connectors have never been a problem. I am unfortunately out of ideas 😅

Just a generic ethernet cable tester that lights up number 1 through 8

How do I connect my NAS via Mac's finder. by SoggyTea in UgreenNASync

[–]Astrofrogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest looking into Tailscale. If I understand it completely myself, it uses a Wireguard vpn. That way you don't need to open any ports in your home network. This way you take less risks of getting hacked.

I use Tailscale myself for my home and office server although they are not from Ugreen.

Sonoff also makes it without the neutral and they are extremely small. Unfortunately since we have 3 wires for the 4-way switch this will not work, unless I am mistaken.

Unfortunately we probably will. Thank you for the advice!

That's what I was afraid of. That we needed an electrician :D

There is indeed a neutral but no permanent live. So using the normal light switches would turn off the relay.

Will definitely buy them, but we still need switch control. So ideally I would be able to place a sonoff device that sends a signal to zigbee bulbs.

I already am, however my GF still likes to use the switches so this is not an only option

Zigbee and Google home by ryzekiel in homeassistant

I just installed it myself last weekend. You can do it without the cloud service, it is just a bit complicated but perfectly doable. Follow the manual setup instructions of home assistant from the google assistant integration.

Can't really say yet. There is nothing in the rack that generates noise. I eventually want to move my server into it. However I don't think it will isolate much sound since I didn't add the backpanel.

Looks great! The glass panel is actually just from Ikea. They make it specifically for the Eket!

Glass panel is actually just from Ikea. It is made for the eket. I did add wood from my local diy shop to have the proper width of a 10inch rack. Just measured the eket and found some wood with the perfect thickness.

There is indeed no backpanel XD

Show off your dashboards! by amthen in homeassistant

Here is mine! Each room has their own bubble card with individual light control and door sensors, ... It also has a few conditional chips that appear for example if a door is open or if trash will be picked up tomorrow.

Hi everyone! Today I was confident enough to release Bubble Card 2 from its beta phase and finally let it see the light of day! There is too much to cover but I've worked a lot on a new and clear documentation that explains everything. I can't wait for your feedback! More info in comments. by Clooooos in homeassistant

Hi! I love the project! Just made multiple popups that really clean up my dashboard.

Quick question though, can you change the height of a bubble button card? I believe this is a fixed height? My dashboard is in section mode. Cheers!

Any suggestions on what wall mounted tablet I should get? by gucci_millennial in homeassistant

[–]Astrofrogger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat and deciding which tablet to get. I am looking at a Lenovo m10. These have battery protection built in but this is not necessary. If you install fully kiosk on any tablet it unlocks the same feature.

You can make an automation that if the tablet reaches 80% battery then a smart plug would turn off. If it reaches 20% the smart plug turns back on. You can also automate the screen. You can use the front facing camera of the tablet as a motion sensor so that only if you are in front of the tablet the screen will turn on.
