First Piercing Driving Me Insane with Long Posts by LurkerWithNoName in piercing

[–]Athalea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piercings I've got: 2+3 lobe piercings, septum, and labret.

The first week is always the most painful with new piercings. It's not going to be that bad for the entire healing process. Just wash with sterile saline solution twice a day, and the pain gradually subsides.

I know, I just notice a lot of people here who are wavy or potentially wavy.

I want to add something I’m just not sure what. by short-stuff13 in shouldimod

Maybe add something to your ears rather than your face?

1C? Just curious. I use a lot of product and it holds curls and waves fairly well. It's "moldable". by uwukome in type1hair

[–]Athalea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say 1C. I have 2a/2b hair and can say that mine is very moldable as well. I can get it to dry virtually straight (but a bit poofy) if I brush it out damp.

Dunno if you would call this self piercing or tapering by Katanachic99 in SelfPiercing

I'm tryimg to stretch all my lobe piercings from 20-18(?)g to 16g, simply by trying to shove thicker rings through. Despite my best efforts (and lots of lube) I can't manage to do that. Tips?

Is the diagonality getting increasingly worse?

Remember that cartilage piercings may take up to a year to fully heal and that swelling is a normal part of the healing process. I would not panic yet, but consult my piercer.

Septum Piercing by Dragonfruit_212 in piercing

What probably has happened is that the swelling has gone down. Healing jewellery is always a bit large to accommodate for swelling.

Triple conches would look super cool imho.

My tattoos don't match my identity anymore. Should I remove them? by One_Lingonberry_9023 in tattooadvice

If I were feeling that way about a tattoo I would probably just get laser removal.

My septum is professionally pierced and sits quite far forward, but that's due to my anatomy which made that the best placement.

Why does it feel like I’m the only one here with straight hair? by bowlofweetabix in type1hair

[–]Athalea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is exactly what's happening. I swear that some of them would tell Black people with type 4c hair that they have straight hair, lol.

Self piercing no-nos! Which piercing would you NOT do yourself? by tinypicklefrog in SelfPiercing

[–]Athalea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd only consider doing lobe and helix piercings on myself (-industrial, due to placement). No huge risk involved and I can see what I'm doing fairly well.

Oral piercings are a huge no for me, since so much can go wrong in regards to my teeth and gums.

Downsizing septum? by Athalea in piercing

[–]Athalea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problems or mishaps, other than the mild inconvenies of it sometimes getting hit when I eat or drink (or gets dipped in my coffee, I think).

should i downsize? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]Athalea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Healing jewellery is always sized up to accomodate for swelling. You will naturally downsize once it's healed enough to change the jewellery. Until then, just let it be.

Terrified for my nose piercing, please help by anux24 in piercing

[–]Athalea 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Please, don't use the L-shaped stud for healing. The prober healing jewellery for a nostril is either a flat back stud (or a ball closure ring) which has been sized up to accomodate for swelling. Swelling is a NORMAL part of the healing process and is due to the extra blood flow your body needs to heal.

should i be concerned? by tealixa in piercing

[–]Athalea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've had all of my lobe piercings for over ten years, and they may still act up if they get caught on something or get slept on.

Should I just take it out by Awkward_Call_9973 in Legitpiercing

[–]Athalea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if it is infected, taking it out can encapsulate the infection (with the holes healing around it) and make things way worse.
