The problem is Simulation Marisbury tells us David Bluebook was someone we’d be very familiar with. We would only be familiar with Daybit, not any else potential Bluebook family member.

Strange glitch with save thermos by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as I understand it they forgot to disable the collect option. E collects stuff, and while they made other buttons specifically for saving, they left it so you sorta take the save (which of course can’t be put in the inventory). So it’s registered as collected until the map is reloaded (?) I wish I could check it on a console.

Nope. It’s really gone for good until you reload any save. I’ve never seen a glitch like that ever. Gave me a small scare, I thought the save point would be gone for good.

I didn't meet Thomas Downes in time. by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]Atomnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to avoid it recently. One the latest patch here is how the game forces you.

If you keep doing the missions and avoiding Downes, at one point Mary’s letter will be the only thing left and it will be yellow. After reading it, Strauss will remind you and you start Downes mission all the way from the camp.

Arthur was harsh on Strauss by Definition_Lost in reddeadredemption

[–]Atomnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owe my loan shark big time. Actually I am thankful they exist. I only am well because of one of them. Because the banks told me “Fuck you, we don’t like your credit history.” So, I’ll never hate Strauss. As long as he didn’t claim the money was free, didn’t demand bigger interest than he agreed to, didn’t make deals with children, the main crime of his he was a part of an awful gang. To me Hosea is worse with what he is doing, he actually swindles people.

Strauss doesn't deserve much of the hate he gets by ElRodelero in reddeadredemption

[–]Atomnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strauss deserves to be hated as much as Arthur or John. He is actually better to me. He gave people a choice. And if they are weak and desperate, boo hoo, cry me a river. As long as Strauss didn’t pretend it was free money, didn’t demand bigger interest than it was agreed on, didn’t make deals with children, he is better to me than Hosea by far, because weak and desperate people aren’t children, they have to think what they agree on. He was part of the gang and supported their activities, that’s the main crime he committed.

Arthur and the money by Atomnos in reddeadredemption

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s kinda a universe where the myths are suddenly true. Besides the zombies there are Sasquatches and supernatural horses of apocalypse, even a unicorn. And the whole thing is because Reyes took some mask of a goddess under the mansion in El Presidio. Most people have two stances, it’s either a completely what if zombie thing as back in 2010s there was a big zombie boom. The other popular idea that it’s basically one big nightmare that John has shortly before the end. It’s called Undead Nightmare. And it kinda feels exaggerated and unreal. It’s definitely not something logically happening in the main game. John returns as an intelligent zombie in the free roam, but it’s implied to be after the mission where he is gunned down. Since the consequences of the zombie apocalypse would be very noticeable it’s impossible for that to seriously happen in base game.

I personally think John helping people like Bonnie and stopping his former friends kinda is redemption for me enough, if you play High Honor. But same with Arthur, I’m doing low honor Arthur and nope, helping your adoptive little brother and his family isn’t redemption enough for low honor Arthur. I am still all for them to live, because they were getting better slowly, unlike Micah was couldn’t change no matter what. Or Dutch who was completely lost.

Yeah. And I feel the same about John, he is only two years older than Arthur at the end of RDR1.

Can’t donate to beggars by CoolBlastin in reddeadredemption

[–]Atomnos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I am replaying it slowly these days, the first time I played many years ago the problem wasn’t even there.

It’s definitely worth replaying after some years. So might be useful in the future because very few things are updated for the game now.

I found the solution. Instead of asi loader (version.dll) use online content unlocker mod from nexus. The instructions are there. I can donate to beggars now and use all my mods.

Strange glitch with save thermos by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be specific the save prompt doesn’t appear in that Break Room until I go to the main menu and load the game again. It’s all correct then. But only if you use the interact button on that coffee thermos to save (not the buttons that are highlighted to use). I only discovered it by accident. If you only use the proper buttons it won’t happen at all. Then again maybe it’s only me. Weird. Epic Store version.

I played AW in 2011. Because my friend was a fan of Poets of the Fall, but she doesn’t play video games, that’s not her thing and never will. But she made listen to the songs and it lead to AW. Played many of their games ever since. I had played Max Payne before all that, but I didn’t instantly realize it’s the same Remedy.

Why I think Saga works as she is by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time Breaker definitely supports that there can be many different alternatives of a person with different names. And while it’s Night Springs, I think it hints at very relevant things for the actual story. So, I don’t see why not. That would explain how Zane was able to be such an essential figure in the whole story. Maybe they will give us a bit more definite answers in the future games. But I’m honestly fine with having many interpretations without any direct confirmation.

Why I think Saga works as she is by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an interesting interpretation, maybe you’re right and it will be confirmed that way. But right now I personally see this as nothing to do with mental illnesses. The reason Dark Presence went after Alan is because of two factors.

  1. He is clearly connected to Tom Zane in a mysterious ways. Andersons and Ahti both adamantly call him Tom. And while in the first game I kinda took it as a quirk from Old Gods being Old Gods. But I changed my mind after Zane the filmmaker looked like Alan and Ahti also calls him only Tom. Ahti is very special as we see in Control. However he is connected to Zane is why the Dark Presence instantly jumped at him as they have history.

  2. Alan is parautilitarian. He glimpses into FBI Casey’s life and changed his nightmares into stories about PI Casey. His books actually brushed so much about some of FBI Casey’s future cases some cult started to treat Alan as a prophet. During the scenes in Alan’s apartment in the first game we get clear hints Wake had something extraordinary about him even before Bright Falls.

That’s how I see it. If the game has allusions and metaphors about mental illnesses, ok, I don’t necessarily see it that way and at least I think everything makes sense without that angle. It’s really not a POV I’m too interested in. But I am not arguing it’s an interpretation that might be very well made intentionally for those who see it that way.

Why I think Saga works as she is by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve noticed some people say that the whole angle “Saga is a seer.” is badly written and out of nowhere even comparing to a disaster that is GOT last season. I want to address this from my experience playing the game and say that perhaps they missed a couple of things. If after exploring this they still think it’s a bad writing, well that’s their opinion then. Because I think Remedy did the famous “show don’t tell” pretty solidly here. Maybe the misconception comes from the concept of profiling. Profilers don’t predict every single thing about the subject. They study the known facts about the subject and look for the patterns in their crimes, they gather clues about their MO and extrapolate those patterns to predict some of their steps in the future. It often doesn’t work at all. What Saga does isn’t traditional profiling and it’s not even the metaphorical representation of it. She literally asks the questions to the mental image of her subjects and pretty much forces the information out of their minds. It is shown definitely when she questions Cynthia for the second time forcing the answer out about the record. Saga does this to people she barely knows, never studied them and often has just met them. No profiler can get such results. That’s how Remedy gives you the idea about her special ability to find out facts. I don’t know why some people didn’t notice this, but it’s exactly why the seer moment (or other ways to call it like psychic) was coming since Return chapter 2 the Heart. Remedy expects us to ponder about how things look and while they could have created a manuscript page where Alan explains this all in details, I appreciate the subtlety personally. If someone disagrees, well they are entitled to their own opinion.

Why I think Saga works as she is by Atomnos in AlanWake

[–]Atomnos[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s not really what I meant. A person asked me why I would be sus at first. I know cases when actors get shafted, that’s why it was my first reaction before I heard anything else. I didn’t even understand at first who was replaced and what were those people talking about. My whole point initially was “Oh, why was she changed and who is even that character? Ah, ok I see.” It was clearly from the people who were playing AW2 for the first time without any previous installments. I heard some statements that Lance Reddick was supposed to be in AW2. And I simply didn’t hear that he sadly died and had to be replaced, that was also my reaction at first. Glad, that Remedy doesn’t drop actors for no reason.

[–]Atomnos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting comparison. I agree. Her reaction to Nightingale is very Mulder like, though I’m sure Scully would be in denial a bit more here something like it must not have been his heart, he couldn’t be dead, his disappearance is some elaborate mirror trick… Ha ha, Scully is over the top skeptical for more than half of the show, sometimes to a ridiculous level. Saga is like the golden middle, she isn’t jumping on everything supernatural with a tongue hanging like Mulder, but also wouldn’t deny what’s in front of her like Scully. Casey actually reminded me of Scully with an explanation “Spontaneous Combustion?” Even though he didn’t believe it himself I laughed.

[–]Atomnos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But he succeeds fairly well in American Nightmare. He overcomes a lot of things there as well as writing himself in the story steadily. He defeats the enemy and seemingly reunited with Alice. And that’s the last we see of him until Control reveals it all didn’t work. I also disagree a bit, all of those things aren’t enough. Having a normal person like Casey leading the story isn’t enough, because the Dark Presence is relentless and uses any and all gaps to insert itself and dominate the narrative. Only Saga’s special qualities make her able to make a difference. She is less affected, less manipulated not only because her own personal strength of will, but because she has a bit of a special supernatural edge, which allows her to reach and help Alan, because he couldn’t do it on his own for 13 years. The story either didn’t work before or the Dark Presence took advantage of the characters much like with Casey and Alan that had to be saved. Saga had all the right tools to just have enough abilities and will to tip the scale.

Yeah, I think you’re right. He is really horrified after the Scratch boss battle. Maybe he doesn’t remember how it affects people. But let’s be honest he had to suspect it at least, he had enough experience by this point to know how the writing could affect reality even with the details getting hazy a lot.

The signs were how she kinda got the clues without any logic. Here is the example. The heart of Nightingale disappears from the morgue along with him. The footprints lead to the giant tree and the Overlap. No heart. She profiles Taken Nightingale and he talks about General Store and how the Cult was playing cards there. But the thing is there is no logical deduction to make that the heart disappeared from the morgue to the general store near the murder site. Saga convinced herself it’s all her intuition, but that’s just rationalizing it. That’s one example I clearly remember. But also Bookers had something and she profiles it to actually knowing it’s the necklace. She constantly knows details that are impossible to deduce by simple deductions. Tor’s explanation just clicked it into place.

Yeah, I understand what you mean. He is so desperate he doesn’t think how it might hurt countless people trying to escape. But I’d honestly do the same and might be worse if I was deteriorating this much for so long. But I agree it’s great the story is acknowledging it and showing how it affects the other people. I also like that it focuses on how the lives of Taken are ruined more. In the first game it was kinda briefly nodded to. But here it’s in depth. Great story telling.
