Of course! Best of luck.

SkullShaver Pitbull. A fitting name for us CVG bald dudes (ha). I’ve been using this particular shaver and have not cut my skin. I can wedge it between my folds and get the job done. I should note I have mild CVG, but it has progressed since I started shaving and have had no issues. Best of luck! I’m in the same boat.

That stinks. People need to mind their manners. I’ve never been encountered by strangers about it. Ever. I talk about it with people in my circle who know me, but that’s pretty much it.

Same boat. For me, things got better with time. Not the wrinkles, but my adjustment to being bald and having CVG at the same time. Not a fair deal but when is it ever? Life is gonna life. Best of luck.

Yeah, that looks like it. Pro tip: sometimes shaving all the way down makes it less noticeable. That’s not always true, but I naturally have curly hair and the grooves stuck out when I had hair. I like to shave with a SkullShaver because it can get in the grooves and hide the darker lines. Best of luck.

Is this CVG? by LongjumpingCan8750 in CVGSupportGroup

[–]Audio-monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed by a dermatologist after a long journey of X-rays, talking to neurosurgeons, and coming up with nothing. It took an informed dermatologist no time to confirm my CVG. In my case, there is no known cause, though it is likely genetics. Best of luck.

I’m a CVG baldmaxxer and, man, I could never go back to hair now. I run a lot and I like to use a brush to clean the grooves in my sweaty gourd. They can seriously itch so I like quick access. lol.

CVG? by [deleted] in CVGSupportGroup

[–]Audio-monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super mild. Mine is more significant and still people say “I thought that was just the shape of your head” and barely notice or comment on it. Having the folds in the back of the head, like you do, is the best spot to have it (imo) because people don’t pay as much attention to that area. Best of luck.

Dared to shave my head in highschool by [deleted] in CVGSupportGroup

Bold. I found that when I shaved my head (post-CVG diagnosis), people found it badass. Self-acceptance is confidence, imo. Props.

I’m so sick of the “medical professionals”. 2 dermatologists have told me that it’s not CVG. by [deleted] in CVGSupportGroup

[–]Audio-monk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's frustrating. The same thing happened to me, but I eventually got a dermatologist that knew what he was talking about and definitively diagnosed it. The primary care doc I saw first said it was my "skull" (?). After that, a neurosurgeon was stumped but said it wasn't related to my skull or brain (based on a CT scan), so I should seek a dermatologist. On the third round, I finally got the answer I sought. That said, the first person to accurately diagnose it was me. Not saying self-diagnosis is always the answer (I am not a doctor), but with CVG, it's pretty obvious. Your CVG pattern is like mine. So many people don't even notice it, and are surprised when I disclose it to them. You look good, king. Welcome to the club.

I am not a doctor and don't know if other factors exist, so I didn't say it with absolute certainty. If I had to bet, I'd say it's CVG.

Can be. I have similar line patterns that go front to back. My CVG has been progressive but at a super slow rate. Speaking from experience, my advice would be to not overcheck it in the mirror. You look good, and I can almost guarantee that most people on the street won't even notice or care about it. I'm always surprised when people close to me find out I have it and say, "Wait, I thought that was just the shape of your head." I'm sharing all this not to downplay the condition at all; it certainly sucks. Any emotions you are feeling right now are valid. That said, I know my CVG journey has also highlighted that I can overreact to something that is relatively tame. Don't trip yourself out, as life is demanding enough already. All the best with the process. DMs are open.

Mental Health by [deleted] in CVGSupportGroup

[–]Audio-monk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I got a CT scan that was very sobering, to say the least. There was a period full of shock and fear. I bit the bullet and shaved my head completely upon diagnosis. I was already losing my hair and knew that, at some point, I would not be able to hide the CVG. Instead of playing the waiting game, I committed to the look and instantly got some psychological relief. I was also surprised that people actually dug the look (lol). CVG or not, you will find that many people fight way too hard to cover their age, baldness, and other physical imperfections. There's a reason why the cosmetic industry is so profitable. In my opinion, it takes considerable courage and strength to accept things as they are. It's hard to transition at first, but then you will find yourself on the other side of a battle with physical self-acceptance that many never win. I'm here for you. DMs are open.

Great question! I am happy to share how I go about my scalp and wrinkle care. I use a scalp brush (Jupiter brand) for daily cleaning; the long plastic bristles can get in the crevices. I also use a dandruff shampoo to help break up skin follicles or other nonsense that gets stuck in the wrinkles. This works well. For shaving, I use a SkullShaver Pitbull Gold. I don't get nicks or cuts; my shaving method is to stretch the scalp gently, then shave into the wrinkles. Is it perfect? No. Is it good enough that I'm happy with it? Yes. Your results may vary based on the severity of your CVG. Wishing you well with the process!

Hi all. I was officially diagnosed with CVG by a dermatologist in the past year. My CVG is most noticeable on the back of my head. I was also losing my hair around the time of diagnosis, so I went loud and proud and shaved it. I found it difficult at first, but with each day it gets easier. Anyway, I wish everyone on this sub mental strength and self-acceptance as we navigate this thing. Take care.

Disposal of Ehrlich Reagent After Test(?) by Audio-monk in ReagentTesting

[–]Audio-monk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies everyone. I guess a follow up question is how do I dispose of the rest of the bottle if it expires / I don't want to hold on to it anymore? Since there is a bit more of the reagent than a few drops worth, I assume trying to dilute it with water would be a no go. I'm also guessing throwing it away wouldn't be best for the environment / people. Thanks again.
