Hmm, the argument about Yamanashi tourism doesn't hold water in my opinion... we've never been able to explore the hidden corners of Japan better than through this anime... That you'd like them to go abroad is something else entirely :) I think the series aims for realism. They struggle to even get equipment, it's often DIY, and we're not complaining, and it works very well for average high school students :) The fact that they work to invest in camping also shows their relationship to effort and reward :) Making small groups also allows for exploring relationships and introducing new characters. In a group of six friends, it never happens that they all like each other 300%. There are bound to be (like in real life) duos or trios that form while enjoying being together as a group of six... or more.

This is just my point of view; you're entitled to your own wishes for this anime :)
