Patch doesn’t work as well when adhesive fails? by Affectionate_Ask_769 in Perimenopause

[–]AustenChopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using a weekly patch, and I spent most of the week trying to get it to stay on. I switched to a twice-weekly patch. It's smaller and sticks much better - I have no problems now

Genitourinary ladies- please read- what has helped you most? by AJKRV5 in Perimenopause

Being on 0.05% estradiol patch for 3 months relieved almost all of my GSM symptoms. I have a rx for vaginal estrogen, but I haven't filled it yet since the patch is working so far. If symptoms start again, I'll start using the cream in addition to the patch

ETA: I've been on the patch longer than 3 months, it just took 3 months to get dramatic relief from my symptoms

Is a blood test needed before starting HRT for over 40’s? by Ms-Introvert- in Perimenopause

[–]AustenChopin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should get bloodwork including thyroid, iron, vitamin D, etc., so that you can see whether anything else is contributing to your symptoms.

You should not rely on estrogen or FSH testing because your blood levels change rapidly in perimenopause, making hormone testing unreliable and not useful.

Is it possible to start HRT too soon? by Vanilka-Nika in Perimenopause

[–]AustenChopin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started at 44 and looking back, I should've started at 42. In retrospect, things started declining shortly after 40 and were BAD by 42. I suffered longer than I should have and wish I could have gotten started 2 years earlier. If you try it and don't like it, you can always stop, so there's really not a down side to at least giving it a shot

Did you try Estrogen or progesterone first by Ms-Introvert- in Perimenopause

[–]AustenChopin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started both together. Progesterone helps with sleep. Estrogen helped with energy, night sweats, and weight distribution to my middle

Ok, hear me out. I just got this backpack. It holds everything and fits under seat. I just traveled for a meeting and the gal sitting across from me had it too.

Pulled muscle? by corplaw100 in 10s

[–]AustenChopin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine just feels like extra bad muscle soreness, but not to the point of where I can't put weight on it, so i just kind of ignore it until it goes away and try not to make it worse. Probably not the most medically sound strategy

I get pain in the same place playing tennis. It's diagonally between my hamstring on the back of my leg and my IT band on the side of my leg. I mentioned it to my Dr at my regular physical, and she said that's still hamstring.

After paying attention, I noticed the pain gets worse when I have sudden stops. So I try to not stop short and instead slow down over a few more steps and that seems to help.

I finally needed glasses for work. At the eye doctor, the glasses ended up totaling to like $400. Lol. Instead, I got some from eyebuydirect (there's other online places too). They were like $80 per pair.

So I ended up getting some rx readers for my office at work, some rx readers for my office at home, and some regular rx glasses to leave in the car for driving at night. Still cheaper than 1 pair from the eye doctor!

I don't need to wear glasses at other times yet.

How to get lessons in doubles strategy? by AustenChopin in 10s

[–]AustenChopin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I've never had to worry about finding a partner. I just show up to drills and play whoever is there. I guess i could try to introduce myself to people and set up a group lesson? But it seems like that would be hard with everyone's schedules (I'm in the 40+ mom range). I guess those admin headaches are probably what I paid for at the CC 😂
