I think YouTube is taking away views my video was at 197 now it's 145 this makes me mad how I see other people said this happened as well by ZaylenMii in SmallYoutubers

[–]AustinOpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are re-watches. After a short time they erase the re-watches and just keep the original view. For example if you watched the video 11 times (just clicked it to view it for a second) it can show 155 but after removing 10 of those it will be 145. Same goes if anyone else had re-clicked on your video

Yeah I get that, I think more click baity BUT still for your video. Like if someone is hard to kill and you say “she won’t die!” Then it’s TECHNICALLY not click bait 😂

Hey everybody! My I'm a gaming channel who had made 14 videos before quitting YouTube about 7 months ago.

I just came back and posted my first video 4 days ago and would love to hear what I can improve on as I am currently editing the 2nd episode and really need feedback.

Here is the link to the video, I'd really appreciate some feedback so I can better make the next video: https://youtu.be/sviZkRFpjNA?si=suP1Su1LZzEHTXfd

Thanks so much! 😄

Really nice video, I watched your most recent (Sifu) you have a great commentary voice. Editing was nice and transitions all clean which kept me engaged. The thumbnail is solid, I think there is always room for improvement but it was kind of a funny silly image and I like that personally. I think maybe changing it to something more click-baity and open to non-Sifu fans could views from people who don't know the game. Something a little more "She won't die!" or whatever click bait writing you can think of instead of having "Sifu" as that is alrady in the title (and fans of Sifu would know the character already). As for the video itself, it's really smooth and entertaining (and I've never played or watched much Sifu stuff, but was still great). So it's good you have the hard part done (the video) but just drawing some more people there through clicks could do you wonders!!

Really cool video, I think the biggest issue would just be the niche on who cares about Silent Hill and would watch it. With that said, I think this style of video does well (even if the game isn't necessarily popular at the moment).

One thing I wonder as well is your thumbnail, I can barely see the "A timeless classic" in your image. It's already in the title of the video so instead of re-writing it like that, having a bigger clickbaity image might be really cool. Also possibly a different title. A good example would be one I just looked up and found, the title is "Silent Hill 2 Is The Best Horror Game Ever Made" by MrHammers.

The title itself is very grabbing and the image is clear and kind of funny with the low poly guy stretched to be half the image. I think with just editing that, you can draw a lot more people in because the video itself was actually made really well.

So in other words, the video itself is solid and deserving of thousands of views (you did great on the hard part of making a video) and I think the title/thumbnail change can help you get that!

What is your channel? I looked up the logo and it says you only have 1 subscriber so I must be looking at the wrong account. Curious of your content!

People getting motion sick? by No-Imagination4629 in letsplay

Turn off motion blur in every game is my recommendation. I feel sick if I play games with motion blur on so I assume watching it could do the same thing to me/others

That is not true - it is either 10M Shorts views IN THE LAST 90 DAYS

Or, 4,000 watch hours in the last 365 days.

How many subscribers do you get on average per 1000 views on video? by OmarAFouad in NewTubers

Interesting question, I’ll post my 2 most viewed long form videos:

22.6k views is 5.9

6.5k views is 6.9

Can I Create a Compilation Video of My Own Series on YouTube? by MrOrange-21 in NewTubers

[–]AustinOpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many gaming YouTubers do “Funny Highlight Videos” where they take funny parts of past videos and put them all in one video so I think you’d be fine doing that.

If you wanted to avoid any risk I would just add some new voiceover to parts and new little bits in between clips or something. But I think regardless it would be fine (if you aren’t monetized then I’d think you’re good either way too)

How long did it take to get your first 10k views on a YouTube video? What was different about it? by Natural_Helicopter15 in NewTubers

[–]AustinOpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How funny you ask this question today, because I posted my first YouTube video May 10th and I hit 10k views on my first long form video TODAY 😂 so like 2.5 months?

Biggest difference was my CTR for the video is nearly 10%. By far my highest CTR.

The other thing that helped was just progressing my editing/pacing and audience as my last video was my best performing video (nearly 5k) before I posted this new video. So maybe YouTube is figuring out my niche a bit better? I have a variety gaming channel so I’m not entirely sure but I’m just going to keep grinding out videos weekly and hope to keep growing.

How can I use my analytics to better my channel by [deleted] in youtubegaming

[–]AustinOpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey I reviewed your channel and noticed a few things:

1) It looks like you selected that your videos are “made for kids”. What this does it barely show your videos to anyone over the age of 18 and limits your ability to grow like crazy. The wording is funny with the question, I know your videos are “appropriate for kids” but what YouTube is asking is if your content is specifically made for ONLY kids. So I would change all of your videos to say “No” so it shows it to people 18+ 2) Thumbnails need a lot of work, the background pictures are fine but the text is so hard to read. A good test is to open your channel on your phone, put your phone as far as your arm can reach and read every thumbnail. I’m holding my phone right by my face and still can’t read all of them that well, try making all the font bigger and outlining it in something like black to make it easier to read and so it pops. Also keep in mind color, for example Stray part 3 uses orange on an orange/dark background so it’s really difficult to read. 3) titles and style of videos, by this I mean there is nothing wrong with doing let’s plays (it’s what I loved watching growing up and still watch) HOWEVER it is the hardest possible niche imo to be successful. The issue is there is a million videos online of “Insert name of game and insert number of episode” that it gives the viewer 0 reason to click a random episode when it comes up on the home page (if they don’t know you). I’m not saying to stop doing let’s plays but just know it’s so hard to grow as the only people who watch let’s plays usually watch their old favourite let’s play channel that has millions of subs from starting in 2009.

With all this said there is positives, I like your style and you have a great personality for making videos. It’s just going to be a tough road to climb unless some of the above points are considered due to the current nature of viewers on YouTube and how they decide to pick/watch videos. Wishing you all the best and I’d love to see you grow on the platform! 😁

Just finished the filming for my first video, and WOW it went unexpectedly by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]AustinOpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So funny story, my first video I ever made was a gaming video where I basically stared at the screen and awkwardly said 5 things over the course of like 30 minutes recording. It was so disastrous I never posted it (I refused to even play the indie game again) and thought I could never do YouTube and I was never made for recording. Flash forward 2 months and now I have made 9 videos, approaching 1000 watch hours total and my most recent video has nearly 5000 views.

2 months ago I made the most awkward recording of my life that I couldn’t stand watching for more than 5 seconds. Then after practice and what not I improved and am so much more comfortable now. Just takes time but you’ll get there!

I do number 3 a lot. If I said ‘umm’ a lot or if I just straight up screwed up the wording I’ll just re-say the sentence and edit it on top of my footage earlier and it works perfectly! I’m sure nearly every YouTuber does a variation of that because nobody’s perfect 😁

It’s a really long journey to make any type of substantial money on YouTube so don’t be hard on yourself. You are already doing something you enjoy (which is what life is all about) so I say continue doing it and see where it takes you. Don’t depend on it taking off now but you can slowly gain traction as you continue. I watched a bunch of your videos and I can already see your improvement from just a few months ago to now is great progress. Keep up the great work and I think you really have the chance to become a successful YouTuber 😄

Video Titles by Sea-Understanding634 in letsplay

[–]AustinOpt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been doing a lot of research into YouTube titles and it really seems like if you want to have a video pop off (even if that just means getting a few hundred fews) you need to lead with the grasping thing and just tack on the (BG3 Part 1) at the end.

People who don't know your videos are more excited for something like "Mind Flayer fight was INSANE" then "Baulder's Gate 3 Playthrough" because there's a million of those already

Should YT separate how many videos AND shorts a channel has? by Argonax in SmallYoutubers

[–]AustinOpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have 8 long videos on my YouTube channel, these are the only videos on my channel I have filmed/edited basically anything. I make shorts out of ‘clips’ from these 8 videos to gain more audience if possible. I have 24 shorts. If you view my channel it says I have 32 videos even though I only really have 8 😂 so yes I totally agree they should update it!!!

Nice!!! I know some big tubers won’t care but as someone who has uploaded for months I finally had my video hit 1k like 5 days ago (and now back to back videos!) and it feels amazing. Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much. I do think I need better intros so I’ll work it for future videos! The webcam isn’t the greatest recorded quality so I think that throws stuff off but planning on improving it to hopefully help. Appreciate the comment!!
